Clearly wd don't know if the Lakers team would have made the playoff minus Kobe it's an educated guess, but like I said I think educated guessing/opinions is what the award is based on.
I wasn't dismissing his opinion I was just saying he can't throw a blanket opnion out there as a flaw in my post especially when I agree with the opinion he gave.

Again I agree with you guys that CP3 was a very deserving MVP that year and would have got my vote. I'm just saying Kobe was a deserving canidate as well and was agreeing with Ex in saying that CP# was robbed or raped was a reach.

As far as the playoff thing goes I don't think either team would have been a playoff team without CP3 or Kobe. Kobe's team around him was no different than the previous years at the start of the season. I don't see the Gasol trade going down if the Lakers wasn't winning the games they was. It was a perfect storm of circumstances that landed Gasol in LA IMO. Gasol being there did improve the roster but we have to remember that the Lakers was the number one seed before Gasol came to town.

LeBron's MVP hopes was pretty much crushed IMO when the couldn't and still haven't beat any of the top teams in the league(besides the Lakers). That IMO does more damage to his MVP chances than playing with Wade. I can't see him getting many first place with the record they have against the top teams and it being thrown out everytime they play one. Dwight is really the only guy I could see having a real case or chance against Rose but they fact that the Bulls are six games up on them and have the number one spot and second best record in the league right now plays a role.

They thing that puts Rose over the top in addition to what you posted is the fact that they have continued to move up in the standings all year no matter who went down. When they season started it was oh Boozer is hurt now they might be playing for a six seed and yet Rose carried them in the top 4. Then when Booz gets back Noah goes down and the talk was they would drop off like they did last year when Noah got hurt. Yet they keep winning. They went from the four seed to the one seed with both Noah and Boozer missing time. That is amazing. Nobody had them even close to that before the season started.
PER isn't really helpful here, and you're not extending things out to 48 minutes either. Either way, this isn't really the conversation I even want to have since this is the MVP thread not the Lowry vs. Rose thread. I stated the actual reasons why the numbers show what they show, there's not really anything more to it...

            I agree.

As for Westbrook and Durant, yea Durant got back to looking like Durant again but at the sametime it wasn't like Westbrook's play dipped(EDIT: Production dipped slightly in February so that might've killed ANY shot he had at it, if he even had a chance) any once Durant's production started getting back to normal so I don't really understand how he's not in the conversation either(speaking in general here).
I agree again and that drop off in his production at the time with Durant's going up is what did him im if he had a chance. I see KD in the Convo but just not worthy of first place votes.

I don't like using a per 48 minutes basis when it comes to things like points, rebounds, assists and such because nobody plays 48 minutes. If guys played 48 mins they wouldn't come close to matching the numbers. I perfer using the per 36 minutes averages because that falls in line more with what guys actually can play.

This is the biggest flaw with the MVP award to me. I would like for Gm' s and coaches and maybe players to vote for it. It dont make sense for these geriatrics that go to bed 830 to have that much power.

I know how all of the stats work. What happened was I mis read what you was saying on the previous post I responded to. I thought you was talking about their numbers as a whole and not just part of the calculations for WP that the article was using.

No, you Hornet fans and Kobe haters all believe that. Everyone else reasonable knows that CP3, LeBron or Kobe all equally deserved it. Saying anyone got raped makes you look biased.

Comparing two completely different seasons is beyond idiotic.
He deserved it that year. And I'll always be incensed about it.

However, calling me beyond idiot makes me consider taking my glasses and showing you just how "too much" I can be.

God forbid we Hornets fans love our team and proudly display that fact. Nah, we're wearing glasses. Why you always gotta be disrespectful?

Wow, this thread has lost it's direction.

Anyway, a case can be made for either Dwight or D Rose...I feel Derrick deserves it based on his team's record, and the fact that the he has led his team to that record without 2/3's of the big three for a majority of the season (I believe Rose, Noah, and Boozer have played in a total of 20 games this year).

For the Bulls to be where they are, considering the circumstances, is quite a feat...D Rose put that team on his back pretty much the entire season and has them firmly in contention for the #1 seed...impressive
