Weren't those games against Deron after he got traded to the Nets? Deron didn't shoot good at all with the Nets an ended up facilitating the ball more.

One of them was with Utah and the other one was with the Nets.

I think "not having the ball in your hands to be effective" is a little overstated....

especially when Durant is putting up 19 shots a game, only behind Kobe at 20

not to derail the thread more than it already is lol

Guys get too caught up in that. Just because Durant runs around screen to get a jumper. Doesn't make him any different from Carmelo, Kobe or LeBron. They are still getting up those shots regardless.

Unless you're a big man. Howard will always go less noticed compared to ball handers like Rose, LBJ, Wade, etc.

Going back to my spreadsheet real quick, I compared Rose and Westbrooks's games against CP3, DWill, Nash, Tony Parker, Andre Miller, Billups, Ellis/Curry, and each other.

Those guys shot 47.3% against Westbrook (Curry and Ellis absolutely destroyed the Thunder by the way). Westbrook shot 45.5% in those games. I think Rose shot 47% while his opponents shot 43%.

Westbrook recently joined a very small club. In the history of the NBA only five players have had 4000+ points, 1500+ assists, 1000+ rebounds, and 300+ steals in their first three seasons. These players are Oscar Robertson, Penny Hardaway, Chris Paul, Lebron James, and now Russell Westbrook.

Since we're still discussing the two, I thought I'd post this here. Found the stat interesting.

Derrick rose joined an even smaller club, only two players has been able to score 2000 pts and dish out 600 ast in a season prior to turning 23 yrs.the big O was the other guy.

i really kind of wonder if these guys would be as good playing in the 80's 90's without the hand check rule... i'm not close to old enough to remember all that but i hear enough about it lol

I think every player would be able to adjust to playing with the hand check rule. Mostly everyone grew up playing pickup ball where no fouls are called anyway.
