How far can the Nuggets go this year?
They seem like the deepest team in the league. They're 5-2 since trading Anthony. Their personnel really lets them to push tempo.

Re: How far can the Nuggets go this year?
I dont think that they can beat Dallas, San Antonio, LA, or Oklahoma City in a 7 game series. Soooooo.... 1st Round. -
Re: How far can the Nuggets go this year?
I don't think we can judge them since they've only played 7 games since the trade, that's not really a fair judge of how they are, and they just lost to the Clippers and they haven't really played any of the elite western conference teams, although the Boston win was impressive.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: Dallas Stars
NCAA: Alabama Crimson Tide

Denver doesn't have many if any elements of a team that can make a run in the playoffs. They don't have a superstar and they don't have a post presence and their defense isn't elite.
We can judge them just fine right now.
Not to mention their chemistry is hit or miss at this point.
Pretty much. Now we saw Golden State score and upset and also the old Denver squad who upset Seattle.
Difference is this year we know who the top 4 seeds are and what they bring to the table. Dallas is suceptible because they don't have stable scoring after Dirk.... but they to me will still be able to overcome Denver.Comment

Re: How far can the Nuggets go this year?
There are different factors that go into that. Some of its style of play that takes over in the playoffs but some of it's also the fact that starters don't like sacrificing minutes so they pace themselves.
The Nuggets, one could say, have a starter quality player on the bench at every position. There's not a lot of precedent for that. The closest thing I can think of is the Trailblazers but they haven't had PGs like Lawson and Felton.Last edited by Wang Chung; 03-09-2011, 08:14 PM.Comment

Re: How far can the Nuggets go this year?
Denver has size and they can D up.
Don't know why some are saying they can't D up.
They've got an athletic defensive minded wing in Chandler who can face up, and Nene has the size to put a body on any big he'd face.
With that said, they're still not going anywhere. If the season ended today they'd draw OKC. I think they're losing that matchup 9 times out of 10.
What I do like and what works to their advantage is their ability to throw different looks at you. I think whatever success they do achieve would be a direct result of outstanding coaching from one George Karl.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: How far can the Nuggets go this year?
I think they could give someone a test in the 1st round, but I can't see them beating any of the 4 Top Seeds.. But I'd give them a small chance to be able to upset someone because of 2 Factors they play pretty good defense and there extremely deep.
They may not have a superstar but they have several pretty good players.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: How far can the Nuggets go this year?
Is Karl really gonna go 10 deep in the Playoff rotation?
When the game slows down to every possession counts, i cant put my money on this team to change thier stripes.
Plus they have a new culture. Theyre gonna need time to figure themselves out.
They have the tools to play Defense but lets not fool ourselves into thinking they are Defensive stoppers. They got Knicks players that DONT know what defense is.
If Martin, Birdman, and Nene can turn up their defense, then that will help.
Chandler isnt Defensive-Minded. Lets not exaggerate. He can play defense, but that's not his overall mindset.
OKC are beatable though.Comment

Wilson Chandler is a good defender both in the post and on the perimeter. Felton can hang on the perimeter. Gallo is the only guy that came over and his a liability to some degree on defense. He has good footwork, but is not the greatest athlete.
Let's see: Felton, Lawson, JR, Gallo, Chandler, KMart, Birdman, Nene, Afflalo, Al Harrington.
So BATMON, you think those 10 players wouldn't see the floor for any significant amount of time in a 7 game series? Really? They all provide something positive in their own right...matchups dictating.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Knicks players that don't know what defense is? Or a D'Antoni system that is lax on defense? The latter makes more sense to me.

Feel free to think Gallo's good footwork makes him into a defensive player.
Al Harrington and Felton are also questionable on the other end.
Ill give up Chandler. He has the will.
Have any of the former Knicks been to the Playoffs before?Comment

Re: How far can the Nuggets go this year?
Im skeptical that a "deep" team's bench gets significant playing time when rotations are usually cut short in the Playoffs. Maybe that changes for Karl since he has options.

Felton was in the playoffs last yr w/ the Bobcats.
Gallo/Chandler have never been.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment
