In all my life, watching dudes play ball on every level, I have never seen anyone from the crowd step up to a player after the game in a one on one situation and call them names. It's about respect and context. While someone is playing and you are in the crowd, you have certain heckler rights that go in line with trash talk. Off the court, you are just two men and you don't know him like that. Why would you disrespect or pass judgement on that man? It doesn't make sense. That's why you don't do it. As an aside, these are athletes and individuals, so they'll all have different responses to some fool getting outside of himself, but the ones that have the kind of background that makes them act are at a drastic physical advantage. Blake Griffin? I'm sorry but any average sized man without extensive experience and training needs to be real with himself. Unless he is the worst fighter ever (and he has a brother so probably not) you are putting yourself in a foolish situation for no reason. But if you are talking with cops and a lawyer on speed dial, you don't have to worry about where you stand. You don't need to handle your business or have respect, because you're not playing straight up from the get. And this isn't about being tough or hard. It's about standing on your own. If you have a big mouth, fine. Just be that dude who handles it when he talks himself into a bad situation.

Even better, just respect people. If you're as big as Brock and as nice as Jon Jones, that's no reason to go around disrespecting people you don't know personally.

Adults [should] know that there is a difference between the player and the man and the game and real life.

You mean its not "being a man" to call a spade a spade? If I think someone's a punk, I don't care who they are, I'll call them a punk. It doesn't matter to me. If they took a shot at me for saying something verbal, then that would only be confirming whatever insult I made to them. I'd say that's exactly standing by my word. Not standing by my word would be to say all these things behind someone's back then if the time ever came, to act fake with the person in question (celebrity or in personal life).

Anyway, whatever, stupid discussion. It'll never happen. I'll never meet any of these fools.

And the "against the TOS" stuff is ridiculous. If you're gonna say something, then say it.
No, say what you're gonna say, but if you step up to a man's face and want to talk trash, be prepared for him to retaliate. Especially when he has never done anything against you personally. If you're minding your business and someone assaults you, it's your right to sue. If you start off with the mouth and they close it for you, take it like a man. That is a situation you created.

      Re: Against the TOS

Sorry man, gotta respect the rules. Tell Steve to suspend the TOS and you can get the good version. Until then, use your imagination.

I agree with everything you said my man(although I don't know about the extensive training part because you don't exactly have to be Chuck Liddell out here when dealing with Athletes out in the streets).

Yeah, agree as well. Sorry, I like you Matrix, you seem like a good dude and I enjoy reading your posts majority of the time, but your man card should have it printed pretty clearly on it like it is on everyone elses that one of the things at the tippy top of the list of being bitchmade is being that dude who talks mad **** and then runs and hides behind moms, older brother, the cops, etc.

I don't want to say that I'm likes to fight guy, but I know with 100% certainty that there is only one man in sports that I would be 100% willing to throw down if he was coming at me, being a punk.

So what if LeBron beats me to within an inch of my life? I'm going to get at least one decent punch and a few bites in.

Oh no doubt. That's what I meant when I said they are individuals. You can grade it on a scale of OJ Mayo(soft) to James Johnson (wear a mouthpiece). But I never go into a conflict assuming a dude is soft. I assume he's a killer and prepare from that point.

<url> Oh well. I still don't get how talking mad ****, then standing up to my word and saying it to someone's face would be considered bitchmade, but whatever. If anything, that's the opposite. Bitchmade would be talking a bunch of trash, then cowering at the last possible minute. The onus would be on the person being clowned on to hold back physically. In all the conflicts I've had in my life, I've never said anything to anyone that I wouldn't say to their face. I don't see why that would be any different just because of the perceived stature of an athlete or celebrity. And for all the things I HAVE said to people's faces, the most I've gotten is my *** kicked by my brothers. Have never been in any other physical conflicts. I think people respect someone's ability to speak their mind without being intimidated.

For a hypothetical situation where Blake Griffin takes a swipe at some punk kid from the San Fernando Valley, the public embarrassment of him "coming down" and striking a "commoner" over a measly word or two is punishment enough without getting legal.

There is no onus on him to hold back physically if you are taunting him in the street. Where do you get that? He can tell you "close your mouth or I'll close it for you." at that point you shut up or man up. This is the way things go when one man takes it upon himself to disrespect another. Lawyers should never be a part if that scenario. That's the part that is bitchmade. If you talk **** be ready to defend yourself or close your mouth.

@blakegriffin , you're becoming pretty bitchmade with your antics on the court.....learn your role, rook. Enough with staredowns and jawing

How's that for a nice little tweet. About as close as I can get to telling him straight up what I think of him, I guess.

Gets that we're not gonna go running to a Lawyer for something WE initiated from the beginning. But the chances of any of this actually happening are pretty much slim to none so it's a moot point.

But did you really tell him to "learn your role"? LOL C'mon on now...
