I think this team is fully capable of doing so under D'Antoni, and who knows what else. They've lost Games 1 and 2 on the road by a collective 5 points.

Where do you make the distinction that the team was not prepared?

Your not understanding. The goal is to not lose close games. The coach has to have his team prepared to play defense and not have these lapses on crucial possesions.

Your down 0 - 1 in the playoffs and your team comes out giving rondo lay up drills to open the game. Nobody trying to take a charge, foul him, lay him to the ground. The knicks need a coach that can give his players a defensive mind set in the playoffs. Set a tone that your not just going to get easy baskets.

Pat riley would nearly drown himself in cold buckets of ice to motivate his players. That is extreme but im saying the knicks need a coach that will have his players motivated to play defense especially when it counts.

The defensive breakdowns in the late moments in both games so far have been terrible for the knicks. Im not going to even go into the having your players in position ready to foul someone at the end of the game.

On the offensive side as well too many lapses where the knicks lack back up plays when a play breaks down. Its like D'antoni draws up one play and thats it free lance after that.

The problem is, the Knicks were outmatched....

Not by coaching, by players.

Jared Jefferies has the offensive intestinal fortitude of a ladybug, and it showed on his attempt to pass the ball to Bill Walker who was something like 0-10 for the game. Take it up Jefferies and maybe draw the foul....

However, D'Antoni can't be held responsible for his players passive instincts. He can tell Jefferies what to do, how do it, etc. But they still HAVE TO DO IT. Execution.

He is simply saying no matter who is out there, people will blame the coach.

The personnel the Knicks have out there isn't exactly the best. How can you seriously expect them to win when Jared Jeffries is our dominant presence in the paint? They did a damn good job, all things considered.

Carmelo almost pulled off a major upset. Melo could have pulled some ballers off of OS last night and had a more talented team to face Boston.

Unfortunately, only Amar'e coming back will have any impact. Billups injuries always seem to knock him off track.

Carmelo almost pulled off a major upset. Melo could have pulled some ballers off of OS last night and had a more talented team to face Boston.

Unfortunately, only Amar'e coming back will have any impact. Billups injuries always seem to knock him off track.

I was laughing at the fact that Melo almost beat BOS almost single handedly. NYK should have won if only Jeffries had wanted to put up a shot. This series is more of a testament to Boston's decline rather than Knicks' ability. Can't wait for MIA to down the C's.

I think the old dudes have one last push when it comes down to it. But it would figure the one year I need the Celtics to be themselves, they decide to blow it up and suck.

I do not expect anything thats why the games are played and we analyze the game after. In one of my posts i already said how the knicks were still in contention to win despite the lack of motivation and lapses. So its like im giving props but at the same time im still pointing out the flaws.

I have seen doc rivers take bumbs (saracastic) on the magic and win coach of the year. The personal is not the issue for me with D'Antoni. Its having a coach that knows what to do in certain situations regardless of how difficult the circumstances are win or lose, a coach that can motivate his players to play some defense.

A david can beat a goliath in certain instances if wisdom is implemented.

This is bigger then just this playoff series. The future of knicks is what im looking ahead at. The playoffs come down to execution and defense. In my opinion D'Antoni is not right coach for the knicks future.

Well I won't completely disagree with you there but that's more to do with our players and less to do with D'Antoni.

He was brought to NY expected to win and I'm pretty sure it was with the caveat that we were going to change to HIS philosopy - a stretch for an organization predicated on grind-it-out East Conf. style bball.

The Knicks have lost by one bucket both games, fighting injuries and possibly a few bad calls. I just can't see how someone can overlook the comeback by a team that consisted of TD, Bill Walker, Roger Mason, Melo and Jared Jeffries.

If I had asked you if we could come back by 11 down with that squad you would laugh at me.

The thing is if the knicks came out the gate focused without giving up lay up drills who knows what could of happened. That is why all 4 quarters are relevant. The knicks impressed me. I am in no way looking at it from one eye. I have to call the good with the bad.

At least were talking about basketball and coaches instead of the officials for the moment

Looks like Shaq could be back as soon as Game 4. Well I don't believe that but that's better news than he's out for the rest of the playoffs. For the C's to have a legitimate shot at the Title.. They need him for the Heat and Bulls IMO.

LOL, I'm well aware they are getting MRI's.

I wasn't aware that an mri means not only do we now know that Amare probably won't play Friday, we know what percentage he will be at if he does play.

Back spasms are incredibly unpredictable, nobody knows what he'll feel like Friday. If the MRI shows structural damage than that changes things, but until then it is just a completely wild guess.

I wouldn't have too much hope for Bos going far, due to the struggles they have been having with the Knicks so far.

They're getting old and they're times running out fast.
