Durant finished 6th in the NBA in scoring on 48% shooting two years ago. People knew all about him.

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
I know yall here know who he was lol he was the #2 draft pick lol.. but NBA wise for the regular fan he was like the underground star since his team never could get on National TV. That's the point I was making.. Last year's series vs. LA was the coming out party and now the transition is in full effect..
I remember one of his games a few years ago, somebody was like Durant drop 35 last night, and I was like man.. sure wish I could have seen it. That was how it was most of the time, you just heard about the amazing stuff he was doing but you had no chance to see it... good to see that his time has finally come.Comment

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - First Round Discussion Thread
2 years ago nobody knew who Kevin Durant was outside of YouTube and ESPN highlights because OKC could barely get on national TV...
now they are in the Western Semifinals and looking like they can definately make some noise against the aging west.
It has been a rather nice transition of power in the NBA this year... I'm really starting to like this OKC team, they should be the favorites against MEM/SA, and have the offensive fire power and defensive presence to contend with any of the other 4 teams on the lower side of the bracket.
If they were going to get in, this would be the year, West is up for grabs... the time looks like now."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

People knew who he was and I definitely knew who he was(since he's a product of the soon to be Basketball Powerhouse that is the DMV) but I also do remember quite a few people on here as recently as last summer during the Lebron Takeover saying "Man, ya'll gonna make me not like Durant anymore" because people were giving the dude his props LOL.

Also, I think if the Grizzlies would've won tonight, then that would've meant that every team except for one, has won at least ONE playoff series in the last 10 years.
Who's the one team that hasn't yet? Hint: They play in "the Greatest Building in all of Sports".#RespectTheCultureComment

Wait a minute, looking it up just to confirm and the Bobcats ain't won nothing either, unless they just aren't being counted for being an expansion team. Bucks and Raptors just barely made that ****. I forgot all about the Bucks going to the ECF that one year lol.Comment

His rookie year the sonics got 7 games on national TV, like somebody said earlier that is comparable to what the NBA did this year with Griffin getting the Clippers a little buzz this year, but then after a pretty bad record and moving to OKC they got screwed IMO with the exposure..
The 2008 Thunder had one game vs. New Orleans at 9:30 ET on a Friday night.
Thunder 09 had one game vs. Dallas. Meanwhile Durant becomes the scoring champ on FSSW mainly.
They get to the playoffs get the exposure by pushing the Lakers in round one, and the very next year get a new TV contract, and a whopping 15 games on TV this year. Durant leads the league once again in scoring and has given credibility to OKC.
2 years ago it was 1. that's a big difference and that's all I'm saying.. it's good to see the guy getting his credit and putting his team on the map because it was a process after the relocation. Like I said, a few years ago I couldn't even catch a game of his since I didn't have a cable sports package to get all the games, and wasn't streaming. I don't know of any other superstar in the league or scoring champion in league history that couldn't get atleast 2 or 3 games of national exposure meanwhile LeBron/Wade/Melo/Dirk/Kobe/Dwight/ are constantly on the screen. Now you can add Durant and I'm just glad to see him silently emerge as one of the greatest in the game today.Last edited by lilbiggio; 04-28-2011, 09:35 AM.Comment

The Durantula.
Making The Leap? Possibly. But damn was that something to watch. Everything the guy shot was all net. He was just on another level in that final stretch of the 4th.
Also have to give Ibaka his props. Looking like Dikembe 2.0 out there.
It's hard not to be in love with this OKC team, well aside from the fact they pulled the robbery on Seattle. The fans are bananas, the way the team is run by Presti is great and something about 20 other teams need to take notice of, the focus on team chemistry, the team not having any big egos, etc.
I like the Bulls and I want to see LeBron win a ring, but I'm not sure there's a team I want to see win it all more than the Thunder.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.
