    Rule for post defense?

It seems to me they changed the ruling a while back. You can't stick your knee into the post player to keep him from backing you down. Is that the case, or am I imagining that? Basically what I mean is a friend of mine would stick his knee into my rear to keep me a bit off balance.

You can't use your legs or knees to defend with in the post, correct? All you can do is hold your ground and keep your forearm in their back. Is that right?

This isn't an answer to the question, but it's somewhat related so I don't want to start a new thread.

    Me: Defensive Player
    Opponent: Offensive Player

Is it legal for the offensive player to box me out of play and use his arms to force me out of the lane allowing his teammate to get a wide open lay up?

I don't know for sure. If the player is going for the shot, he can box you out for the rebound. He can't push you with his arms, but he can extend his arms out and hold them there. He can't extend his arm into you pushing you out of the way though.

If the player is dribbling the ball, and his teammate is pushing you out of the way, I'd think that could be an offensive foul, a moving screen perhaps.

That would be my say on it.

You really can't use your arms much on a player, offense or defense. It's more of a body game.

He's not pushing me out, but he is extending his arms and not letting me get passed them. He does and boxes me out when the other team is dribbling around and not only a shot, since I'm the big man he just forces me out of the lane for the other team to get easy lay ups.

Next time I'll probably call him out on it.

          You're correct.

That's a moving screen. He can hold his ground to keep you from getting around him though.

You can't set a screen with your arms extended though.

It's still a screen, you can't move or it's a foul. If somebody runs past your arm, that's a judgement call but if you pretty much grab/closeline someone bc your arm was already out, it's not going to fly.

if i'm posting up on the block, and my point guard beats his man and is coming towards me, i don't have to get out of post up position. i can stay there and basically screen the defender away from blocking the shot.

Not sure if you're agreeing with me but yeah, that's what I was saying. You can't move in a way to block the defender though, or it's a moving pick (that includes using your arms).
