David Stern wants to adopt Int'l goaltending rule in the NBA

    http://sportsradiointerviews.com/2011/0 ... ark-cuban/

“Well I’m going to urge the owners — and it’s not very radical but we were talking about it for awhile — to adopt the international rule on basket interference. That is to say, once the ball hits the rim it’s in play. Because I think that it’s too hard to call. I think that we don’t want to stop the game every time to see if it’s the right call, but the camera that looks down on the basket can tell the story if the refs have gotten it right. And it’s just impossible to call to make whether the ball’s touching the rim, on the rim, off the rim or the like. And I think that would make the game faster, better, and less controversial.”

    Not.

Stern is an idiot. So guy's shot blocking stats go thru the roof and scoring takes a hit (which I knows he would be against happening).

    Who is advising this guy?

Would this let offensive and defensive players to hit the ball off the rim?

If so, I am all for it.

But, expect a big increase of finger/hand injuries.

Goal tending should still be goal tending though. I think that should stay, otherwise block shots will skyrocket. But, I can totally see his point for basket interference.

This would help the offense too but yeah, I think it's a horrible idea.

I'm not sure what the rule is for balls that hit the backboard. I think that would be the biggest question but I don't like it either way.

How would that happen? Players are allowed to grab/touch the ball AFTER it touches the rim...

Nothing to see here. This is just Stern's way of saying...my refs ****ed up a call in the playoffs again, but they didn't do anything wrong cause it's too hard to call.

Bull****! Agreed with King's assessment of this. Over the years, I thought Stern wanted to increase scoring? This rule change will definitely not help with scoring.

                      Don't like it.

There's nothing wrong with how it is now anyways. Maybe improve the camera angles before deciding to make a change like this that I think is going to lead to bad things.

Since when was David Stern remorseful over a bad call?

Since David Stern likes "international" so much, I would like to throw him into international waters.

God, I hope there's a federal investigation into officiating that ends with Stern stepping down.
