    What are YOU watching?

Different people have different interests. When watching basketball games, some people like to focus on off-ball stuff. Some people ball watch. Some even ignore the on-court action altogether in favor of the hot chick in the pink Lakers jersey making her way down the aisle back to her seat and proceed to eye her down until the camera is out of focus.

Me personally, I'm usually only able to pay attention to one thing at a time, so I try keying in on what's going on off-ball. Screens being set and general movement. Other times I'll strictly focus on the defense - help defense, on-ball defense and things of the sort. Then other times I'll make quick judgments based off a few plays from a certain player or two like my own little scouting reports.

So here I ask you, Pro BBB, what do YOU individually like to focus on when watching games?

      Re: What are YOU watching?

Over the last year or so I've found myself watching off-ball movement more like what sets/plays the offense is running and how the defenses are reacting.

In the past I would mostly watch the ball. Maybe it was the effects of LeIso?

BTW I have a keen eye for catching the hot chick in the crowd in all of the sports I watch.

Mainly off ball movements like watching how plays are being developed and on Defense, watching how players are guarding one another.

And also watching the crowd, to see who's out there and clown whatever they're wearing.

Because I have a passer's mentality, I like to watch to see who's open and not getting the ball so I can hate the PG for being dumb. This mainly happens with Westbrick, and hardly ever for players like Paul or Rondo. Though Rondo likes to hold the ball for the entire shot clock and then initiate the play with 4 seconds left. T_T

I myself pay attention to all aspects of on-court action...Cutters, screen setters,on-ball action, all things. It makes the experience more worthwhile as opposed to just concentrating on just one thing.

I switch my focus depending on who's playing at the time. Teams with good pg play I watch the whole offense and the ball. I love post play and the footwork involved when there's a good big involved. It just varies.

My eyes usually dart around the screen, looking for cutters, open men and rough play in the middle. The majority of the time, I usually go back to the ball though.

As for the hot chicks, there is without fail always at least one hottie sitting behind the bench of either team. that's when i bust out the dvr and pause to get a better look. i love dvr.

oh, and i use dvr to replay a nice score to see the process in how it happened. i swear, dvr was made for sports.

                      Re: What are YOU watching?

I'm always looking to see if the team is playing with a sense of cohesion. One thing that frustrates the hell out of me with the Lakers is how selfish they can be. Kobe obviously has his moments but the whole team goes through times where they just say "F that I'm doing my thing!!" On both defense and offense.

So I really enjoy watching them teams that work together well, rotate on defense, talk to each other, move the ball, give up shots so that others can get involved. I look for things of that nature.

I really love it when guys sacrifice their games for the win. That's why for me Dallas is a joy to watch because they do everything "right" in my eyes lol! No hero ball unless it is absolutely necessary just stick to the gameplan and take advantage of openings when you have it regardless of who the player is...

When I used to watch a full NBA game, I watch the physical defense in the low post. That is why I was a big fan of SA and the Wallace Ville of DET. I started watching NBA since 1985 when physical big men were very important on both sides of the court.

Today, I only like to watch MIA full games. I am interested to see what the future holds for them specially that current big talents on different teams won't mind getting together to take a shot of the trophy. If Rose insist on his "I don't care" attitude in the offseason, he will be run over. He should be more active in recruiting superstars to his side. A 3 superstar team against a 3 superstar team in the finals is certainly a series not seen since BOS vs LAL in the 80s.

I pick a specific player on one team and watch them the whole game.

If I’m able to rewind and pause etc, I might watch the same game twice and pick a different player.

Still doing the former. No longer doing the latter.

I watch the ball, the referees and the players on the court of course too. I always look at the scoreboard and the number of timeouts each squad has. The only time I really pay attention to the crowd is during timeouts or after the commercial breaks. I’ll certainly focus on Allie LaForce, Doris Burke or Stephanie Ready, if they are doing the games. They can sometimes get me distracted and thinking about other things, but I’ll just leave that there.
