If that's a way of letting him go without a big hit on the cap wouldn't that be preferable to outright asking the guy to retire?!

I really feel for this guy I loved watching him play when he was healthy. Just like TMac (not the way he plays, but the enjoyment I got out of watching him).

Sidenote, I'm interested to see what happens with Greg Oden this offseason. He's going to be a free agent isn't he?

This is what franchises do what's best for them. This is why I don't go in on players when they look out for themselves.

Agreed Roy was on his way to top 10 player in the league before his knees betrayed him. As for Oden. He's still about 2 years away from really showing up, due to the surgeries before Portland needs to make a hard decision on him. Question is will they though with what they're doing with Roy

Even tho I'm a diehard Knicks fan B Roy was and still is my favorite player in the Association. I hope he is allowed to play to see if he can regain some of his form.
