    Average NBA height/weight in 1965: 6' 6", 210

    Average NBA height/weight in 2001: 6' 7", 225

I don't know that Jordan would be playing center necessarily. The key factor is that there were much fewer legitimate big men (read 7') in those days.

Personally, one thing that is not factored into the equation is the fact that Wilt would have had to shoot a good amount which is very tiring. I don't see Shaq hitting 100 ever because he was never in shape to make that many. He would have dominated a while but might have had problems when they found out he couldn't shoot fouls. Also, MJ is a product of his time. If MJ was back then, I'm sure he would have played different. Remember that he did get inspiration from other people that went before him. I respect the old heads. Even comparing the players now to those 10 years ago, there is a whole lot less physicality on the floor. Superstars add the flopping move to their repertoire with regularity in oder to get these numbers nowadays as opposed to just going up in the game.

Kareem is Wilt was a better scorer the Jordan..............

          Top NBA Point Avg.

          1. Michael Jordan 30.123 ppg (1072 games)
          2. Wilt Chamberlin 30.066 ppg (1045 games)

            Wilt's career FT%: .511
            Shaq's career FT%: .527

Wilt was worst than Shaq with his FT%. So if Wilt can bust 100 in 1962, I believe Shaq could score more if he played back then.

His point of there being 8 teams in the league where the talent was more concentrated.

You think Shaq would have had enough legs and breath to make that milestone? Maybe earlier in his career.

Does anyone know how far into Wilt's career this occurred?

Of course he would have. Wilt did that in his 3rd year. In Shaq's 3rd year, he lead the league in scoring. And that was during the prime careers of David Robinson. Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon. Shaq wasn't even in his prime yet. Of yeah, forgot about another up-and-coming center in Mourning. And don't forget about Mutumbo.

So yeah, a young Shaq had the legs and breath and would have obliterated the record. Shaq did it against stiffer competition and Wilt's closest rival was Bill Russell. Everybody else was a distant 3rd.

Great post luv_mist. People tend to forget about that bold part when putting players in different eras.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
