Last night's game is one PERFECT example as to why there has to be some sort of broad implementation of enforcing the rules in the NBA. Jason Kidd OBVIOUSLY traveled when drawing the foul on Dwayne Wade and the refs couldn't do anything.
What are your thoughts? I would even go as far as to allow an NFL-like coaching challenge system limited to once per game. There was another situation where Wade put back a miss and was OVER THE TOP OF THE RIM which should have been offensive interference. Something like this can be challenged by the coaches and teams can more appropriately earn their win.
Just think - a few years ago no one wanted any sort of IR in the NBA. Now, when you have a close call at the end of a game, fans enjoy looking at the huge displays and arguing if a shot was good or not while the refs review it. Imagine allowing the coaches who have a keen eye to impact the game this way.
I would also say it is something that can possibly only be utilized to void a basket if the violation occurred directly before a basket. If someone travels, then passes off and the play develops some more, then the play in question is not reviewable. It would have to be during a stoppage in play. Same rules apply where a play can't be "challenged" in the final 2 minutes to avoid teams stopping the flow of a game.
Thoughts? I'm interested in the open discussion.
