pre-steroid kobe was really skinny, but you can't deny he had incredible explosion and quickness. Used to love the 2002 tmac vs kobe battles.

Re: #8 Kobe>
So sounds like the Lakers traded into the spot to get "their guy" but if they didn't, Kobe would've dropped. I know there wasn't THAT much hoopla about him when he was drafted. I don't even think anyone blinked when the trade was made. Gotta give Mr. West props for that one.Comment

Re: #8 Kobe>
I remember when Kobe went for 81 how much me and my brother talk about how he ball-hogged. Now when we talk about it, we both marvel at what he did. Ball-Hog or not scoring 81 points in a game is absolutly impressive. I'm not really a Kobe fan but, over the years I've come to respect his game more and more. I think it won't hit me how good he was/is until he retires.NFL: Tennessee Titans

Re: #8 Kobe>
Number 8 Kobe was an absolute beast. In his younger years there was practically no one who could do more. combine his freakish ability with his extremely hard work ethic and we saw one of the best human highlight films and stat producer ever.
However i believe number 24 Kobe Bryant is overall the better player. He really became the leader everyone expected him to be after the switch. He was able to mature and really command a great presence which is something few players have done.
Without a doubt Number 8 was fantastic. the jaw dropping dunks the effortless moves, the way he would have a 50 point night and treat it like any other game but Number 24 was the true leader and the true champion.

Re: #8 Kobe>
Very nice thread. This guys is very under appreciated, and deserves much more respect.
Kobe Bryant is a amazing basketball player. That when he steps onto the court you know he is going to give it 110% period. He never takes a play off, and fights till the very end. I also love the fact that he does not want be anyone's friend on the court. To him its a war, and I wish many other players played the same way.
Kobe is very talented ,and has great work ethics.
I'm not a Lakers fan, but I appreciate a player who plays the game with heart , soul , and determination. I love players who do not run from adversity, and learn from failure.
This is what turns you into a legend, and Kobe will be a legend when it is all said and done.

Re: #8 Kobe>
And also like many have said in the past, his 62 to me is kind of more impressive than 81. In a way. It's just crazy he could outscore a team by himself through 3 quarters. He didn't even play the 4th.Comment

I've never been a Kobe fan by any stretch of the imagination... but I've got mad respect for the dude, he's a flat out amazing player. I remember back when he was shuttling back and forth from court stuff to games during the trial that it seemed like every time he had a game on the same day as a court proceeding, he went off, or hit a clutch shot.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment
