You're arguing against yourself here. What you're putting under the big umbrella of "flopping" IS playing the game. I don't like flops that create phantom calls but I don't see WB doing too much of that. I do see him getting a guy in the air from a pump fake which creates a real foul that he sells. I also see him driving and getting hit and going to the floor to make sure the ref calls a foul one way or the other (it's still a foul if he doesn't, it just doesn't always get called). As an offensive player in a game with refs (when I can't call my own fouls) should I avoid contact all together, giving the defense an advantage? Hell, even getting contact which makes my shot attempt much more difficult gives the defense an advantage.

People focus so much on offense that they ignore the advantage defenders would get if alot of these things were let to slide. There's a give and take, and even if we're going to complain about somebody toeing the line, I don't see how WB can be considered in that conversation. I was merely pointing out that I don't think Rose should get any extra credit for not selling more calls... basically making his life more difficult. For comparison, I think Wade goes overboard now, but I remember when he played more like Rose initially. This isn't the And 1 tour and refs are human. The "flopping" issue is not black and white.

People are far too hasty to call someone a "flopper". Vlade Divac flopped. Derek Fisher gets off a good share of flops. To say RW should be labeled as someone who flops seems a bit silly. He sells his calls, big deal. Guy probably get's fouled a ton more than what get's called to begin with. If anything, I like the fact that RW is willing to send his body to the floor to make it harder to no-call the (unofficial)10+ times a game he's surely fouled. I think it's a risky prospect to take fouls and hit the hard wood, it can definitely shorten a career, but he's using some of that extra mileage that youth brings.

But I guess shooting .8 more free throws a game makes someone a flopper.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm saying. I won't support rewarding bad defense, masked by people having issues with forcing refs to make a call.

I think Rose could still win an MVP and be even more dominant with Durant.

I think Rose comes with more fanfare too. He has the backing of the larger market and #1 overall selection so that gives him an edge, be it right, wrong, or indifferent.
Rose isn't winning the MVP with KD on his team...

I hate responses like this. They provide nothing of value, and no one here has a crystal ball....er....at least one that can see into the future.

I haven't said much in this thread. Because in my opinion. They are both in different situations. But both in the same situation. I don't know it doesn't make sense. It's really weird. I would probably take Rose right now. But Westbrook defense what keeps it very close in my opinion.
