It was the Nets and Pistons in '06, Darko's last game as a 'Stone. Got to see Vince Carter dunk in person; life now complete.

Re: What Was The First Basketball Game You Attended
I've only been to 2 NBA games in my life, both in Charlotte.
My grandpa took me to my first game. it was Miami Heat vs Charlotte Hornets.
MIA (102) vs CHH (119). Get the box score, shot charts and play by play summary of the Heat vs Hornets, November 21, 1997.
the next NBA game I went to was in 2001 with my parents, who bought tickets for us to watch the Wizards play the Hornets, so I could have the opportunity to watch my favorite player ever play (MJ, of course). Outside of being in awe to watch Jordan have a good game, the only other thing I remember is how impressed with Tyronn Lue's speed I was. haha
WAS (93) vs CHH (99). Get the box score, shot charts and play by play summary of the Wizards vs Hornets, December 26, 2001.
First (and only) college game I went to was in 2006 for my dad's birthday. I'm a huge UNC fan, and he is a Davidson alum, so we got tickets to go watch them face off. Wasn't one of UNC's best season, and had we gone one year later, we could have seen Stephen Curry, Ty Lawson, & Wayne Ellington. but, we did get to see a young freshman by the name of Tyler Hansbrough, and 2 good Davidson freshmen, Jason Richards and Andrew Lovedale.

Sweet, I went to a Valentine's Game too. It felt funny taking my girl out to basketball for Valentine's Day, but technically it was my birthday present, so it worked out. Plus, she got a pink Tayshaun Prince jersey out of the deal (and a red Chauncey Billups).

But yeah, I went and didn't even bring my girl lol. I felt bad, but she was okay with it. She knows how much I love the NBA.
I'm not a Lakers fan at all though, but I wanted to see Kobe. He disappointed. LA was playing like they didn't even want to be there.
I was more impressed by Kwame Brown than anyone.Link to my NBA 2K13 2010-2011 Roster:

Re: What Was The First Basketball Game You Attended
It was during the 96-97 season ( Iverson Rookie Year). I can't remember if they played the Celtics or the Grizzlies. All I remember ( I was 6 at the time) was that I wanted Jerry Stackhouse to have more points than Iverson because Iverson was my sister favorite player and Stackhouse was mine then."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. Game 1 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals LA vs Portland
I was in LA due to my old man having a conference there. He decided to bring me along. One of the guys he knew out there had 2 tickets to the game and couldn't attend so we got them. We sat 20 rows back from the court and i got to see Sheeds 2 techs and for the first time see Kobe Bryant and Shaq live. One of the greatest experiences i will ever have in my life.

Re: What Was The First Basketball Game You Attended
Some random Knicks-Nets game at the Izod center a few years ago, I think in 07. I think this one:
NYK (86) vs NJN (100). Get the box score, shot charts and play by play summary of the Knicks vs Nets, April 13, 2007.
Terrible. Then the next year I went to another Knicks Nets game in new jersey, that the Knicks won but still not that exciting. And then this season I went to the Knicks Heat game at MSG that the Heat won, and game 3 of the first round against Boston that we got blown out.
So yea, haven't had many good times going to NBA games so far, but I have been at some good ones for MLB, NCAABB and football, and NFL, so I guess I can't complain.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: What Was The First Basketball Game You Attended
Can't remember my first basketball game, but I know the Celtics were involved.
My first playoff game though was a Nets vs. Raptors game. We won, and I got to witness Jason Kidd putting up a triple double, and Vince Carter at his best as a Net.Comment

Re: What Was The First Basketball Game You Attended
I paid $200 a ticket to go see LeBron James first game in Madison Sqaure Garden. I sat right behind LeBron James moms. He scored 22 points. I remember it like it was yesterday.
But I never forget his first chalk toss vs one of my favoirte teams back then.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. I was 7 years old and the only thing I wanted for my birthday was to go to a Bulls game. Unfortunately my birthday was in May and tickets were hard enough to get anyway. Luckily my dad's best friend's boss was a season ticket holder and for some reason or another, wasn't able to go to that game. So my dad bought them from him. I didn't know we were going until the day of. It was a very early birthday present.
Little did I know that what I was going to bare witness to was going to be one of the most incredible displays of baksetball by one player that I have ever seen. One of the most memorable sporting experiences in my life.
Been to a number of games since then, but nothing will top that one. Unless I get to go to a Bulls NBA Finals game soon.Comment

And similar to you wanting nothing more than to see MJ, I wanted nothing more than to see my favorite player, David Robinson. And a year after your MJ game, I had that opportunity, my dad bought the family tickets to a Spurs-Pistons game at the Palace. It was the best news ever, which set the stage for the worst news ever. Like a week after I found out about the tickets, David Robinson went down with a season-ending injury. And then like four or five other Spurs went down too (including another fave of mine - Sean Elliott). Robinson, Elliott, Dominique Wilkins, and Charles Smith I don't think even made the trip. The best moment ever turned into a Monty Williams and Carl Herrera fest. I was thankful for the chance to see NBA basketball, but bummed at the opportunity missed.Comment
