Lucky. I watched that clip 30284209342 times on my oft-mentioned 1996 NBA Encyclopedia CD-ROM. That call is another one that's just burned into my brain (like Kemp's Lister Blister).

Of course, the funny thing is, I don't think the game was actually over. More time was put back on the clock, yeah? Though just a small amount and nothing came of it.

Re: What Was The First Basketball Game You Attended

My first game ever was Syracuse vs. Boston College back in 2003 I believe when it was Duany/Melo vs. Troy Bell or something from BC.

Second game was the Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh game where the Syracuse fans stormed the court two or 3 times (I got to sit next to Gerry McNamera's parents, which was pretty cool lol)

Ever since, my dream was to someday go to Syracuse, at first to play basketball, but then as the years went on, I just wanted to go there to go there. And I ended up getting pretty much a full ride for my grades to go there so I was blessed to be able to go to just about every Syracuse game this year.

I also was able to go to my first NBA game finally. I took a train from Syracuse to Buffalo (my brother goes to school around there), and then me, him and a few of his friends drove to Cleveland to see Melo in like his 2nd game with the Knicks.

Detroit vs Milwaukee at the Palace. Grant Hill vs Glen Robinson. Alan Houston went off at the end of the game to win it for the Pistons. Good times. Think it was Hill's first or second year, 94'-95'ish.

And similar to you wanting nothing more than to see MJ, I wanted nothing more than to see my favorite player, David Robinson. And a year after your MJ game, I had that opportunity, my dad bought the family tickets to a Spurs-Pistons game at the Palace. It was the best news ever, which set the stage for the worst news ever. Like a week after I found out about the tickets, David Robinson went down with a season-ending injury. And then like four or five other Spurs went down too (including another fave of mine - Sean Elliott). Robinson, Elliott, Dominique Wilkins, and Charles Smith I don't think even made the trip. The best moment ever turned into a Monty Williams and Carl Herrera fest. I was thankful for the chance to see NBA basketball, but bummed at the opportunity missed.
Definitely man. I was just pumped to see my favorite player, but then what proceeded definitely left it's mark on me. I don't know if it was because how young I was, but I remember this certain electricity and aura in the arena that night. There was just this vibe that something great was going to happen. Could have been because I was so amped to see a NBA game live, and that's how I processed it back then. I don't know, but the atmosphere was crazy, it felt like a playoff game in March. Definitely something I will never forget.

It was a relatively unremarkable Mavs game back in the early 2000's where I was in the nosebleed section and they won.

I've never been to a Mavs game that they've lost, they have a perfect record with me in attendance.

First game I went to was a preseason game, TWolves vs. Knicks. I was real excited to see KG and Marbury go against each other (I know, different positions, but still). Sadly, by 2004 Steph was already bumming it up and didn't play. It was still really weird to see an NBA game played in a 5,000 capacity arena.

The only other NBA game I've attended was TWolves vs. Lakers back in march. Pretty quiet game, Kobe took over and Wes Johnson was the standout for Minnesota that night.

My first game was Game 1 Portland vs Minnesota in the 2000 playoffs. I was in the 3rd grade and the to experience a playoff game as your first game is nothing but awesome. My favorite player was Arvydas Sabonis so I got to see him play before he retired and he was one of the most amazing players I have got the opportunity to see play in person.

Miami Heat vs New Jersey Nets in the 2006 playoffs. I don't remember if it was game one or two, but Dwyane Wade came out and made like 3 or 4 three pointers early. That's when I really started watching basketball.

January 22, 2003 Washington Wizards vs New Orleans Hornets.
Michael Jordan scored 20 something points I forget the total but he passed Wilt Chamberlain for 3rd on the all time points list. I grew up a fan of Michael Jordan so getting to see him play was great.
