Does anyone else think that the Grizz could sneak into the playoffs

this offseason in europe Pau Gasol has added so much power and strength but kept off the weight. More importantly he kept his speed while gaining the tuffness to rebound, play hard D and spend more time at Center. Stro is ready to bust out and I think he can if they start him at PF. Battier will always give you good stats and effort, and if they get a decent year out of White Chocolate i think they have a shot. Also they drafted the two most athletic players in the draft which will help J.Williams out on the break. Don't underestimate Miller's contribution even though they got raped in the trade for him. He can still spread out the D and give the big men more room to work. I think they will be able to beat out the Blazers for the 8th spot. the Blazers minus Scottie Pippen have no leadership and will begin to decay. Who will they look to, wallace, Wells, Randolph, or Staudamire. The only hope they have is a 100% Derek Anderson. Look for Memphis as the big surprise in the west this year.

Whoa! People other than me who follow the Memph Grizz. There is an outside shot that they could contend for the eighth spot (don't laugh or hate let me list why)
1) The coach, yeah Hubie Brown has caveman teeth, but he knows the game and has proven to be a good teacher.
2) Depth, while no one really scares you except Gasol if he comes into his own, we are solid all around, especially now since we traded for Big Jake and Outlaw. Not many other teams have SOLID contributors at every position coming off the bench, Swift, Lorenzen Wright, Posey, Outlaw, and 2 rookie SG's who have talent. Jerry West also said he was stockpiling talent, maybe a deadline trade if we are in the hunt?
3) The West has obviously gotten better over the summer so expect the top tier teams to really slaughter the best of the rest, if Memph can sneak a couple wins in against top comp, (we hung tough after the break last year), and take care of business with the Nuggets of the world, then...
4) The Grizz aren't good enough even if all these things happen so the 4th piece of the puzzle, and I hate to wish injury on anyone, but injuries happen, and if a couple key guys go down on teams competing for the eighth spot, we will be on our way to the postseason.

While they are definitely improving, I don't see it happening this year. They do now have a year of Hubie's teachings under their belts, but they're gonna need more than that.

The west is too tough for them to get in this year, I think.

Besides the top 5, which are a sure lock (for the most part), you have Phoenix and Houston. That leaves one more spot. Portland obviously is the choice to fill that right now. I would say the Warriors, but you never know with that team. I would really like to say the Clippers, but I highly doubt that. So. . . . . . I guess they could make the playoffs. I would think that they have a better shot next year tho.

its not so far fetched. Hubie Brown brings this team together and now they do have some tuffness. Like I said the Blazers have no leadership and will fall back into old habbits of being childish. Seattle will get beat inside by Pau and Stro. Clippers...Please! Golden State could if they rally around N Van Exel but I think they lost too much talent this offseason. I think the grizz are a good pick for the 8th seed. I'm not a fan either, I just think they have a shot.
