Neither the superstars nor the small market owners will go broke anytime soon. However, the $300 million that these 'bleeding' franchises lost last year will pale in comparison to what they're going to loose this year. And as I stated before, the owners will be laying off more folks than the players are. And the workers that the players lay off won't even be counted in the unemployment count because they're probably friends and family members. So owners bear more of a burden to the unemployment numbers than anything. You may feel different about it or may not care, but I do.

We know the ones yelling stand united arent sweating but there are probably the majority that are..plain and simple, but the ones well enough off are the ones that's going to cause the split between themselves

and its not just small market owners...I can name one off the head that isnt in a small market... Donald Sterling, in Los Angeles.

The players have lost what 400 mil already? The owners have other businesses, and the current nba model is broken, thats what you guys dont understand

ITS GOING TO HAVE TO CHANGE NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY

We just went through an economical collapse, and the players aren't immune to the fact that, as much as they generate, they arent generating what they think their worth is... they're susecptible to life like everyone else is, and its just too bad they have to make 5 million instead of 7 million... I could care less... they dont care about us thats for sure

They're so dumb they just negotiated their way right into a lesser deal

The majority of players will sweat financially if there is a cancelled season. There are 450 roster spots. Only about 20-30 of those guys make max money or have huge contracts. Less then 100 are going to play overseas. That leaves 320 players with no money and no job options. Now some may have saved their money and may be able to survive a cancelled season. Most havent. Many of the guys who are overseas arent making close to what they would have during the season, so their families are forced to do something they never have....live on a budget.

None of the 30 owners will sweat if there is a cancelled season. The majority of the big market owners have war chests that can cover them for years at a time. Many of the smaller owners have other businesses or have generated revenue from other events.

You know how the owners covering their ***...concerts. Take Dolan. Opening night would have been Nov. 8 at home against the Thunder. He scheduled a Jay-Z/Kanye West concert for the 7th. So when Stern cancelled the first 2 weeks of the season, he called Live Nation and asked them to schedule a second night for Jay at the Garden. The concert on the 8th is practically sold out already.

These small market teams arent going to lose money during a lockout because its impossible to lose money if you arent spending it. They have no player or staff salaries to pay but they still have full buildings because of concerts, college basketball and hockey. People are still buying jerseys and team apparel online. For a owner like Herb kohl, its cheaper to have the lockout than pay the Bucks under a system that guarantees him a financial loss.

Yup, just look at the schedule going up to Christmas here for Jordan.

Foo Fighters and a Taylor Swift concert

The Blue Collar Comedy guys coming here will sell out easily.

            Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

            Smackdown

Owners will still make money while the players sweat.

In most cases they own the team AND the building. The only owners who dont own their building are Sterling, Golden State's New Owners, New Orleans (NBA owns this team), Oklahoma City and Philly's new owners.

Only a few don't own the arena. Jordan got ownership of the TWC Arena from Bob Johnson when he bought it...(even though the city should get more revenue from the arena, we basically built the whole ****ing thing with our money)

So how will they determine the draft order if there isn't a season? Will they use the same draft lottery teams as this past season?
                            NFL: Tennessee Titans
                            NBA: Indiana Pacers

I can only assume there would be draft if there was no season.

I don't care about the draft as I care about what happens to the contracts that were supposed to expire after this season.

Has anyone said if they'd just be wiped off the books?
