I thought they weren't getting benefits once the lockout started.

I'm pretty sure that the benefits are provided by the NBAPA. Aaron can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct. During the lockout, the NBAPA is providing benefits.

Please enlighten me on how so? He has owned the team for less than 2 years and want's what's best for the smaller franchises.

Ok I was talking about the league giving the players benefits.

I'm sure the union would make some kinds of provision if they decertify.

                  There would be no union.

The hell he is. He is trying to help save it for the long haul. If the NBA continues as it has the last few years, we can probably kiss the NBA goodbye.

If the season is shut down, so be it. I would rather lose out on one year, than it just being an eight team league.

Well obviously that's why I said they would make provisions and not provide the players family's themselves.

I don't think that would fly. You can't receive anything, it wouldn't exist. Any possible provisions would be just pieces of paper that have no legal merit whatsoever.

EDIT: BTW, random, directed to anyone who may know, so then if there is a lost season, does that mean players can file for unemployment? HMMMM..

The NBA has always been an eight team league. Its an individual sport just like baseball.
