Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion

These are the dumbest negotiations in the history of mankind. Why has the union not wrote up a proposal like the owners have? If both sides have some sort of what they want wrote out, they could just look at each others offers & attempt to combine their deals. Every offer has been from the owners to the union, who refuse to let players vote on it.

Now these jackass union "negotiators" are waiting 3-4 days before even trying to meet. I understand not meeting Friday since it's veteran's day but how are you not meeting Saturday? At this point you should be meeting everyday until you figure your crap out.

Negoations? What's going on in the 12-13 season?
I guess they just keep trying to strike a deal, like the NHL did in '04-'05. They didn't get anything done until June or July of '05 IIRC.

Keep in mind, David Stern says the NBA's offer will only get worse going forward. Players have a difficult decision to make.

Even if this offer is "total BS" the team reps who wanted a deal entering last NBPA meeting may revert back to their original stance

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion

My first post in this thread, and it'll be my last. If there isn't a deal done and the season is lost, I'm done with the NBA for an indefinite time. And just last year I was a huge fan. I'll sell my copy of NBA 2K12, stop watching NBATV and stop buying NBA merchandise. Maybe alot of fans in my position won't do this, and they'll keep following the updates, supporting the league through other means, etc. but I won't. Just like Stern/Owners are drawing their line in the sand, as a fam I'm doing the same. Everybody has a breaking point, and I can't continue to support a league and players that don't care about their fans.

Everybody has had hard times lately due to the economy, not sure why the players should be exempt from this. Sure the owners probably could afford to relent on a couple % points of BRI to make the deal an easier pill to swallow for players, but why should they? In a negotiation, its not about whats fair but instead what you can negotiate. If the players knew this was coming for 2.5 years like they keep claiming, why don't they have a contingency plan in place? Why not try to start another league? Right now, they're completely reliant upon the league in the short term for their livelyhood (sp?) and even if the "50/50" offer isn't "fair", its not like theres another league that can offer them anything anywhere near comparable. These guys are already in a position to be set for life financially by taking a small fraction of their yearly salary and investing it wisely.

If/when the league comes back maybe I'll support it initially, maybe I won't. There's so many other entertainment options available now that its very possible I'll never support the league to the same extent that I did last year. It's hard to imagine me completely turning my back on the game, as its been a huge part of my life from watching games and playing since I was 5. But enough is enough. As hard of a pill as it may be for the players to accept this deal, it will probably be just as hard of a pill to swallow as a fan for me to turn my back on the league. However, there comes a point when its just not worth my time, effort, emotion and energy to be invested in a league that is so far removed from the pulse of the everyday person that supports them. If there's no deal done this week, I'm taking that pill.

Can't predict what players will do w/weekend to mull league offer. But early indications from players/agents are strongly on the "no" side.

This is what does it for me... Regardless of what happens their entire families are set for life....

That said also, all of these guys including the scrubs like Danny Green..someone should ask them straight up when they say this is a bad deal....

ASK them, WHO ELSE IS GOING TO GIVE THIS TO YOU... right in the press conference and see what the answer is

probably some mumbo jumbo about fairness, because they cant answer that honestly without looking greedy

More from NBPA source: "We can't take that deal. For every minor tweak they made, they made another aspect of the system more restrictive."

These dudes need to stop listening to these agents that I know are in they're ears telling them this nonsense. There is not another deal to be done. This decertification thing is not going to work. You can decert and still negotiate sure, but the owners aren't worried about that ****. They're just going to wait out the ineviatable decision to uphold the lockout and sit on the 47 or possibly worse deal at that point. These dudes are too ****ing stupid to realize that they're agents are pouring gasoline on them for when they crash and burn on this stupid *** decert movement. This is yet another reason to hate Derek Fisher for me. If he or Hunter were any kind of leaders and trying to do things for the union and not themselves, they'd be urging these guys to take this deal. Get it to the big vote man.

Yep, I'm done with this if they don't take it. I'll be done w/ the NBA for quite a while, guaranteed. This is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm not sure who these guys are, that think they're above the general public, who are literally barely making it by, and they're complaining about how they're not going to be able to play ball with their buddies in the limelight cities AND make their million dollars on top of it.

Seriously, the damage that this will do hopefully will have a negative impact on the finances of the NBA to the point where many teams contract, and you're left with these BUMS out of the league, trying to use their lack of a college education to find a 9-5 if they're lucky enough to get a day shift position.

Outside of my hometown we literally just had 2500 people lined up interviewing for 150 Factory positions that just opened up, and I know it's that bad or worse in most parts of the country. We'll see how great your basketball talents are when you're out of the league because you can't live off of your contract and a 50/50 split of BRI.

Just wanted to rant a bit.

He won a National Championship at UNC in 2009. Went pro after his junior year. He hasn't done a damn thing in the NBA.

An awful basketball player that played for the college I despise and he likes dancing on the sidelines because he never gets to actually play.
