Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion

So Monday is the last day they have if they don't want regular games to be missed and...nobody is negotiating?I mean, hundreds of millions of dollars are gonna be lost if 2 weeks are cancelled and they are still at home scratching their balls?I just don't get it...
Today is day 101 of lockout and how many mettings have been done between parts?6?7?I seriously ask myself if these people are so busy to let this thing happen without doing anything. It's clear that an agreement is gonna be reached negotiating with the other part, not talking with your colleagues about how right you are and how f****d things are...

I'm bracing myself for missed regular season games but I honestly didn't expect them to meet today so this is definitely good news. The owners are absolutely murdering the players in the PR department right now as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with a few people who have said that all the owners need to do is give the union leaders one thing to take back to the players. That one thing that they can say "hey guys we stuck it to them on this issue". It's stupid and completely about ego but let's face reality; the union leaders have to be aware that the offers will only get worse as they begin missing games.

Players and owners are still meeting.

This can only be good news. If it was short, then it would be awful.

Maybe they are actually making progress?

A short meeting would mean one party got pissed off.

I don't even get what's being discussed in these meetings, or how its structured. I mean, they know what needs to be done for a deal to get done. These requirements dont just "change". Are they sitting there in recliners just talking? Are there things being written on paper by Stern, then slid across the desk to Hunter? Then back to Stern?

No need to discuss things for hours on end.

It's probably split into groups of brain storming sessions and individual groups trying to brain storm. Then they make an offer, counter offer, more bargaining, brain storming...

Then you get numbers worked out, exchange numbers, think about it, then come back to the table with an answer and/or counter proposal.

I imagine it's more along the lines of the popular card game Go Fish... with Stern, Hunter, Fisher and Silver sitting around the table.

"Do you have a Hard Cap?"

                        "Nah, Go Fish..."

                        Something along those lines.

Knowing these geniuses, it can't be too much more complicated than that.

I was being halfway facetious. I guess it didn't come out that strongly.

I still think tonight's meeting is all for appearance. They want to look like they did everything possible before this Monday doomsday or whatever.

Could be but I find that to be an enormous waste of time. Especially when they will both lose more in the first two weeks than the amount they are currently fighting over.

Its all been a waste of time though.. like now, why meet if the owners arent moving off the at least 50-50 deal

Are the players ready to concede now
