      Antoine Walker on the trade:

      </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />
"I think it makes us more versatile," said Walker, who will arrive in Dallas on Tuesday. "We got three or four guys who are 6-8 or 6-9 who can do a lot of different things. In Boston, we were always one or two guys short. Now, we're obviously going to have to learn to play together, but I look forward to playing with all that talent they have."

Since these are my two favorite teams I will weigh in (Celtics are favorite Mavs are local and second):

Getting rid of Walker will free up Pierce, and I've always thought Lafrentz was just in the wrong kind of system to do well. I really like this trade for the Celtics because we also get the first rounder. I'm not sure what exactly the Mavs will do with Walker, but it is good to have a back-up PG to come in off of the bench for Nash. I am really shocked that this trade happened and it should be interesting to see how this turns out for both teams. Hopefully for the better on both ends.

Re: Mavs send LaFrentz, first-round pick to Celtics...

I still don't know how the Mavs are ever going to hold any team under 100 pts. Sure they could put up well over a hundred, but there are other teams that have off. power as well as def. power. Take Min. or Sac. as an example. T'Wolves have a good number of scorers, not as great as Mavs, but T'wolves also have better D. KG is a monstor on Defense, and Spree isn't that bad either. Sac. as we all know is an offensive powerhouse, but they play great team Defense as well.

Awesome Offense + No Defense= Mavs
Great Offense + Good Defense = Kings
                  What would you take...

Then there is LA who have a great blend of Offense and Defense. Kobe and Shaq is great as it is, but now we don't have an offensive liability at PF, and more Depth at guard. Not only are the Lakers good on offense, but they are a great Defensive Team

                  Payton - "The Golve" i think 9 All-Defensive team
Kobe - one of the top Defenders in the league
Fox - not great, but he's decent
Malone - great power for post D
Shaq - does anyone really wanna go against him

THe Mavs are in a conference full of big men, and all they did was bring in a soft, streaky scorer (like they don't have enough of those...)

Well, Raef wasnt going to hold them either. Dallas improved their team STRENGTH. They wouldnt be able to hold Shaq with or without Raef.

What are other teams going to do when Dallas has their best lineup in (Nash, Fin, Jamison, Walker, Dirk) and any player on the court can run the break when he grabs a rebound?

Then there is LA who have a great blend of Offense and Defense. Kobe and Shaq is great as it is, but now we don't have an offensive liability at PF, and more Depth at guard. Not only are the Lakers good on offense, but they are a great Defensive Team

                              Payton - "The Golve" i think 9 All-Defensive team
Kobe - one of the top Defenders in the league
Fox - not great, but he's decent
Malone - great power for post D
Shaq - does anyone really wanna go against him

THe Mavs are in a conference full of big men, and all they did was bring in a soft, streaky scorer (like they don't have enough of those...)

just like tex said, the mavs were in the same boat last year so this will be nothing new. if anything, this move frees up their cap a little and gives them some scoring depth.
