And for the people who try to argue Kobe is better than Jordan...

    Jordan vs. Kobe

    # of full seasons:
Jordan- 11 with bulls, 2 with Wizards
    Kobe- 15 + this season
    Championships 6 > 5
    finals MVPs 6 > 2
    MVPs 5 > 1
    Scoring titles 10 > 2
Defensive player of the year 1 > 0
    Rookie of the year 1 > 0
Career ppg 30.1 > 25.4 ( Jordan also leads in FG% assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks)
    Playoff ppg 33.4 > 25.4
    Points 32,292 > 28,316
    Highest scoring year 37.1 > 35.4

Games played 1072 < 1117 - (Kobe finally won one lol)

Also- In the 95/96 season the bulls finished 72-10 the greatest record in NBA history and went on to win the NBA championship. Jordan won NBA MVP, finals MVP, and all-star game MVP, the greatest season by any NBA player ever and possibly the greatest season by any athlete in any sport ever!

I love it when people bring Jordan into a discussion about Kobe. Don't remember anybody saying anything about Kobe being better than MJ. Nor should they.

This thread had no mention of Jordan and was strictly about Kobe. Good job. Also Jordan didn't have the worst supporting cast to win a championship(s) as a Superstar. Don't make up fanatical ideas. Jordan just happened to be far and away better than almost anyone he played with in pretty much every aspect of the game. Doesn't make them worst, just makes them not as good as Jordan lol.

lol name a team that had worse? It's the only team I can think of to ever win without a good center, and all Rodman did was rebound and play defense, he didn't score, couldn't shoot, didn't try to score, plenty of players have done that throughout history and you hear nothing about them, they arent in the hall, why? Because they didn't play with Jordan, IMO opinion Pippen is the most overrated player in NBA history as well, not defensively of course, but as a overall player, and also half the people hear brought Jordan into this because ******s in the early posts did compare Kobe to Jordan so don't bash me just because I made it more apparent how big of a gap there was and my first post had nothing to do with Kobe and Jordan comparisons, I just used Jordan and LeBron as examples

Re: The evaluation of Kobe Bryant

Through the first 15 games of the 2011-2012 NBA season, Kobe Bryant has a usage rating of 39.7. Usage rating, an estimate of the amount of offense a team runs through one player, is normalized at 100, meaning that nearly 40% of Lakers possessions with Kobe on the floor end with him either taking a shot, drawing a foul, turning the ball over or making an assist.

For some perspective, the next highest usage rating this year is Carmelo Anthony’s 34.7. Dirk Nowitzki, Derrick Rose and LeBron James are all near 27.

Kobe’s 39.7 is the highest single season number on record, although usage rating statistics only go back to 1977-78. This season, Kobe has had more offense run through him than Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson or Larry Bird ever had. He’s currently on pace to break the 38.7 record he set in the 2005-06 season.

Pippen Was an amazing basketball player. Jordan would not have been able to win all 6 titles if he did not have Scottie Pippen, who by the way could have been a superstar if he played on practically any other team in the NBA at the time. As much of a Basketball God as MJ was he could not do it completely by himself as even the greatest player of all time needs some help.

I agree 100% with this statement. Pau seems lost half the time without the triangle and bynum is not getting enough touches. Couple that with the fact that Kobe is playing 38 minutes a game with a torn ligament in his shooting wrist gets me worried. Not to mention the fact as long as the lakers play a team that has an explosive point guard, they won't be able to win because Derek Fisher is about 80 years old.

kobe has gone back into pecan mode again this year, hes reverting back to the player he was those first two years when he didnt realize that there were 4 other players on the floor with him... i dont particularly like gasol or bynum but when you have 2 good post scorers theres no reason that someone else should be jacking up 25 shots a night the way kobe is now.. last year in the mavs series bynum complained he wasnt getting the ball enough and yesterday gasol said the same thing so it seems to me that they both are calling him out without actually saying his name hahaha... also there was a stat i heard last year that said when kobe takes 20 shots or less the lakers win about 80% their games but when he goes over that the lakers are a .500 team
