Well, the inquiries for Allen was either a 1st round pick or a young player. Woj said that the Celtics might want both. So I brought up Butler as the young player the Bulls can give them.

And I agree that I wouldn't like to part with Butler either. I like this kid a lot. BUT getting Allen would be too good to pass up. Yes, I know the Bulls have pieces to compete for the title right now. And yes, we beat the Heat without Rose last night BUT last night won't mean a Hill of Beans come May when the Bulls face them in the playoffs. I'm just worried that Hamilton won't be there by that time. And as much as I like Brewer, I'd like him better coming off the bench. The Bulls bench is strong AND it's even stronger with Brewer coming off of it.

Yea, a 1st round pick and a young player is too much for a 36 year old player with a $10 million expiring contract.

And who's to say that Allen will be either? At 36, health is a luxury not a given. He has been battling injuries of his own this year. I'd rather take my chances, than give up a young promising prospect that fits our system for a one year rental that really won't make that much of a difference.

Allen could make a huge difference and I guarantee you that battling injuries comes from the amount of stress he has to endure because the Celtics pretty much rely on him Pierce and KG to carry the load night in and out without much real support offensively. Ray has taken very good care of his body over the years, he's definitely no slouch...

...and yes he can put pressure on the defense, I dont care how old he is, you always fear leaving this guy wide open because any given night he'll torch you without you having an answer how to stop it and he's a smart basketball player.... What the heck did Rip have when the Bulls acquired him? Nothing

Deron Williams is not available for trade. I disagree with the Nets, they should acquire Gasol and 2 1st Round Picks from the Lakers. That way they have Gasol long-term and Williams might leave?

Allen this year is averaging 14.6 PPG shooting 47% from 3-point land. Not bad for a 36 year old. Oh yeah...most importantly...he's played 37 out of 41 games for the Celtics this year.

And let's not forget, Thibs knows Allen from his days as an assistant coach with Boston. So he's no stranger to how Thibs operates and Thibs is no stranger to what Allen can do for the team.

I'd take my chances if it gives the Bulls a better shot of winning it this year.

I don't think you should want Gasol long term though

He is at the end of his career now, I believe he only has a few years left in the tank as far as a 2nd or 3rd option.

I'd rather have the cap space when Deron Williams than be stuck w/ Gasol and his contract. I'm not sure why there's interest in Gasol period. Maybe Marc Gasol, but not Pau.

Can't believe we're even having this discussion. I love Jimmy Butler just like the rest of my fellow Bulls fans, however if I can get Ray Allen on the Bulls uniform for Butler and a first round pick (that'll be in the mid to late twenties anyway) screw driving Butler to the airport myself, I'm going to Boston myself and bringing Allen back.

I don't get your reluctance to Ray Allen Rose. The dude is still averaging 14.6 ppg this season and is still somebody that you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT leave alone down the stretch. Last night while merely a regular season game is exactly what you'll get in the playoffs (albiet there was a little more scoring last night). You're going to have a defensive struggle all night and toward the end of the game you need someone that can get you a few baskets cause it's going to be two or three point game, five at the most between those two. I know everyone likes to talk about the Bulls not beating the Heat as if they were getting blown out by them for the last six years or something, but every game was close outside of game 1 where the Bulls blew out the Heat. Ray Allen makes things easier for everybody. Deng is better this year, you gonna double up Rose and leave him open? Okay go ahead and when you try to run back to get to Deng on D, he's gonna swing it to Ray for an open look in the corner or vice versa. You confident that same sequence goes down if Rip is hurt and it's Ronnie Brewer out there? I know where I want my insurance.

He is still a solid starter 16.6 PPG?

I get why people want him. I understand it.

BUT, I don't value giving up future for 1 year rentals, especially when have a 2 players on the roster that play identically to him. If we want a guy in the game who you can't leave alone, put Korver on the floor then, isn't that what we are paying him 7+ million to do?
