So instead of a lockout, could have just let the league own all the non profitable teams.

        Yep. I believe so.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Good for the Lakers. I hate how convenient it is for them sometimes. They got Pau Gasol (at the time) for basically nothing, he helps bring 2 chips and falls out of favor, and they send him and Odom away for... Chris Paul ?

Complete bull**** in my opinion. The Rockets severely damage the West and themselves with a ******** move and the Lakers make magic happen. Aren't there 29 teams in the NBA?

          Hahaha.

The NBA owns the team so it's not the same thing really.

It'll be interesting if it winds up being the same trade but for Duhwight...

Will the league let it happen? Is this an NO-only issue since the league owns them?

If the Knicks ink Chandler, Paul cannot go to NY.

NY has nothing to do with this.

As a Nets Fan, I'd take that over them getting Chandler.

I don't think getting Gasol would have made them worse..quite the opposite actually. They were only losing Martin and Scola.

Pretty sure it is a NO-only issue. The owners have to allow trades involving them to go through, whereas if the Lakers were trading with Orlando for Dwight, it doesn't matter.

Listening to Screamin' A Smith on ESPN LA right now and it's pretty interesting, most LA fans calling in are happy the deal was vetoed. They aren't happy with their team getting significantly smaller.

And a first round pick. But yeah, a Gasol-led team would be dominant. Think pre-LA Memphis, before he was branded a *****.
