Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
I understand where Billups is coming from especially with what he went through earlier in his career.....teams make decisions/ break promises on the regular......but that's "just the business". God forbid a player express disappointment though....he makes money to play basketball....
It's his profession. He has the right to feel that way. We constantly talk about players who don't work on their craft, or stay in shape....so their supposed to take one half of their profession seriously, but no, keep quiet about everything else....lolComment

So I guess it's safe to say that there won't be a Chauncey Billups Night at MSG anytime soon:

It's not that at all man......it's that players CAN control their own destiny.
How? They can sign one year deals every season and move wherever they want / stay where they want. Easy.
But they don't. They sign 60 million dollar 5 year deals.......and with that comes the teams rights to trade you and do what they want. Don't like it? Sign for one year.
Just don't sign the big long term deal and then sulk with "i am tired of being treated like this".......Comment

Sign a one year deal, or don't have a say about what's going on with your career...
But make sure to put in the work that team though, or your a bad person.Last edited by The 24th Letter; 12-10-2011, 10:26 PM.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
And you do realise the Knicks had every right to let Chauncey walk for $4.6 mllion at the end of last season...but he pleaded to stay and they took up his option for $16 million.
He could have easily said back then "no"...but he took the 16 million knowing NY was always going to be looking for other pieces and anyone with half a brain would know his contract would likely be one of the pieces being used.Comment

I understand his reasoning for saying what he said though. How he said it could be wrong, but I understand why.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
It's against all the basic principles....he took the cash, he knew the deal, so if a team like the T-Wolves want him to mentor Ricky Rubio or Mark Jax would like some experience in the GS back court, then that's the job he signed up for. He signed an NBA contract that says he can be traded and amnestied.
But now he's saying "i wanted the money AND i want to chose to go to Miami or LA and chase a ring".Comment
