    Re: NBA Off Topic

Stephon Marbury messed around and almost got a triple double while leading the Beijing Ducks to the CBA Finales.

Glad to see Starbury enjoying some success outside of the NBA. Last time I remember seeing him, he was on Ustream acting a fool.

                  Re: NBA Off Topic

Great, historically informative article from Bill Simmons:

Imagine you're a Warriors fan. Imagine you just endured everything just laid out these past 35 years. Imagine you didn't trust your owners, your front office, anybody. Imagine they just traded your most entertaining player for an injury-prone center who can't play, and imagine knowing that you can't sign anyone else for two more summers because Biedrins and Jefferson have clogged your cap like a freshman dorm toilet. Imagine you have some of the best fellow fans in the league, only you rarely if ever have a chance to cheer anything. Imagine hearing that, after months and months of Chris Paul rumors and Dwight Howard rumors and "PLAYOFFS! PLAYOFFS! PLAYOFFS!" rhetoric, your team just abruptly told you, "Oh, by the way, we're going to tank the rest of this season because we don't want to be haunted by a stupid trade from four years ago, but seriously, thanks for paying for season tickets this year."
Imagine you were a paying customer and Chris Mullin Night doubled as the last bankably fun night of the season. Imagine the emotion inside the building with those Warriors legends on hand. Imagine everything cresting with Mully's humble speech. Imagine the arrogance of Lacob grabbing that microphone — somehow deciding that he should be the last speaker of the ceremony, not Chris Mullin — and imagine your resentment over the past 35 years suddenly swelling as you realized, "Here's my one chance to be heard."
I ask you … would you boo?

Never really been a fan of Bill Simmons.

Although I did like the piece on the Malice at the Palace they did.

                        I wouldn't boo during Mullin's ceremony.

Half those fans don't even know who Chris Mullin was.

Totally disrespectful. Boo during games. Don't show up to games. Don't re-up your season tickets. Do other ****. Don't ruin the ceremony for one of the best players in your franchise's history.

Meh. I don't really feel bad for Chris, he understands.

As far as the fans, I don't support them but I understand. Monta had a deep effect on that entire city, he was more influential than I think most people think.

When else could fans really overtly voice their displeasure directly to the owner? They're not just gonna stop buying tickets to boycott the team, they're too loyal for that.

Writing letters, phone calls? Meh, not really effective.

I thought it was just a perfect storm for the boos.

Rick Barry is a jerk, great player... yes. Huge jerk as well... yes.

A Voice Crying In The Wilderness

Rick Barry has a problem. He would like people to regard him with love and affection, as they do Jerry West and John Havlicek. They do not.

"The way I looked alienated a lot of people," Barry says. "I've seen films of myself and seen the faces I made. I looked terrible." He closes his eyes to the memory and shakes his head. "I acted like, a jerk. Did a lot of stupid things. Opened my big mouth and said a lot of things that upset and hurt people. I was an easy person to hate. And I can understand that. I tell kids, There's nothing wrong with playing the way Rick Barry played, but don't act the way Rick Barry acted.' I tell my own kids, 'Do as I say, not as I did.' "

That article is from friggin 83 by Tony Kornheiser in SI, he (Barry) hasn't changed much since then. That's how people can boo that douche.
