Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said Saturday he wants to be paid for turning his players over to their respective Olympic teams.
"It's the biggest mistake the NBA makes," he told FoxSports.com. "If you look up stupid in the dictionary, you see a picture of the USA Dream Team playing for free for corporate America so the U.S. Olympic Committee can make millions of dollars. If you come up with something that you own, that you give it to me for free so I can make billions of dollars, I want it.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic
What if the NBA allowed fighting like they do in the NHL, who would you want to see fight and who do you think would win? Who would be the enforcers of the NBA?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Off Topic
I sometimes wonder why it's alright and acceptable for fights in hockey and to a lesser degree baseball. It's a part of the game, so they say. If a fight broke out, like it does nightly in the NHL, in the NBA, I cringe to think what the headlines would look like. I'm sure the word "thug" would get tossed around.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: NBA Off Topic
i think the idea is that in Hockey fights reduce the amount of cheap shots. when you can get two people squaring up and fighting its fair and usually nobody is gonna get hurt seriously. Hockey is so fast-paced and so physical that its easy to get heated and its better to actually fight than to elbow somebody in the head when they aren't expecting it.Comment

The Portland Trail Blazers reportedly are interested in Milwaukee Bucks general manager John Hammond and former Phoenix Suns GM Steve Kerr as they search for their own general manager.
Blazers president Larry Miller told The Oregonian that Kerr is his preferred choice. Kerr's agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Miller and his client will meet this weekend over the GM opening, according to the newspaper.
The Blazers also recently expressed interest in Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, according to a recent ESPN.com report.
The job hasn't been filled permanently since the team fired Rich Cho last May, though the Blazers' director of college scouting, Chad Buchanan, has been serving as GM in the interim.
Both Kerr and Hammond have been in the mix for the position in the past, with Kerr turning it down last May to remain an analyst for TNT and Hammond making the finalist cut in 2003 before opting to stay with the Detroit Pistons at the time, when he served as vice president of basketball operations.
Portland is expected to request permission from the Bucks to interview Hammond after the season.
Hammond, who had never been a GM before being hired by the Bucks four years ago, still has one year remaining on his contract.#RespectTheCultureComment
