Former Dallas Maverick D.J. Mbenga was arrested for public intoxication at 4 a,m, after putting his hand on a police officer’s chest, according to Dallas police. The arrest took place at the Buzzbrews Kitchen restaurant at Fitzhugh Avenue and the North Central Expressway.

WFAA-TV (Channel 8), which first reported the on the arrest, cited a Dallas police report in giving this account:
As Mbenga was trying to leave the restaurant, two Dallas police officers were walking in.
The 7-1 center put his palm on the chest of one of the cops and said, “You move out of my way.”
The officer stopped and said, “You don’t touch police, let alone make that statement.”
To which Mbenga — perhaps, in hindsight, inadvisedly — responded: “You want to go? I do what I want, so you move out of the way!”
As the officers escorted Mbenga out of the restaurant, he continued to argue with them.
The officers smelled alcohol on his breath and noted his “unsteady balance” and bloodshot eyes. They said he failed three of six field sobriety tests.
The 31-year-old was handcuffed and taken to the Dallas County jail.
Police said they were told by witnesses at Buzzbrews that Mbenga had earlier been acting aggressively toward members of the restaurant staff and toward a woman who was with him at the restaurant.
Mbenga, a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was drafted by the Mavericks in 2004 and spent three seasons with the club.
The Mavs cut him just before the start of the 2007 season to clear a spot on the roster for Juwan Howard, who, even then, was almost fossilized.
At the time Mbenga was released, our Eddie Sefko described him as “7-foot package of raw athleticism.” This may sound, to the uninitiated, like a compliment. It is not.
After the Mavs, Mbenga put in stints with the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers (where he rode the bench for two years and collected two championship rings) and the New Orleans Hornets. He spent last season playing overseas.
In September, the Mavericks brought him back on a trial basis. He was waived three weeks later.
He supposedly told the officers who arrested him that he was about to sign with the Toronto Raptors.
In his NBA career, he’s averaged 6.7 minutes, 1.5 rebounds and 1.8 minutes a game.

            Well here you go:

            http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extremely-Ra...bc44ae&afsrc=1

            It sold for $10,000.

A man from Chicago purchased a gallon of barbecue sauce intended for use on McDonald's McJordan sandwich in 1992 for $9,995.00 on eBay, according to the item's seller.

A man from Chicago purchased a gallon of barbecue sauce intended for use on McDonald's McJordan sandwich in 1992 for $9,995.00 on eBay, according to the item's seller.

"I've got quite a bit of McDonald's memorabilia," said Mort Bank, a former McDonald's owner-operator in North Dakota. "This was on my shelf, and my daughter who helps me with eBay said, 'I wonder what something like this would be worth?'

"I said, 'I can't imagine anyone else saved it.' It only could have been another owner-operator. We decided to see what we could get. ... I said I can remember a chicken nugget someone said looked like Jesus that sold on eBay for what, $6,000? You have to use your imagination to to even think it looks like that. This is an actual product."

The sandwich was named after Michael Jordan during the Bulls' run of championships, and Bank said the regional McJordan promotion was the first time McDonald's named a sandwich after a person. Its limited production made the sauce a rare item.

Bank would not disclose any information about the buyer other than he's a male from Chicago.

"I assume he's a Bulls fan," Bank said.

Bank, 65, also is a big NBA fan and former Minnesota Timberwolves season-ticket holder.

"I'm a Laker fan (from their days as the Minneapolis Lakers)," he said. "But I loved watching Michael Jordan and consider him one of the greatest ever.

"If the Lakers weren't in the Finals, I'd cheer for the Bulls."

Bank originally had the item up for auction on eBay several months ago, but no bid ever met the minimum price of $10,000. So Bank, who was getting offers for approximately $1,000, said he had to renew it every five days at a cost. He decided to apply a "buy it now" option at $10,000.

"All of a sudden a news story broke, not sure how, but all of a sudden my daughter called and said we were getting all kinds of offers and questions about it," Bank said. "It started spreading on the Internet. People paid attention and started making offers."

Once the offer for $9,995.00 came in, Bank decided to sell.

"If I had known it was going to be red hot on the Internet, I might have done it differently, but $10,000 for barbecue sauce is pretty good," Bank said.

Bank said he sold his seven McDonald's restaurants and started his own themed restaurant chain called Space Aliens with four in North Dakota and two in Minnesota.

                http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba...shake-rituals/

The NBA’s No Fun Police is at it again.

The League’s latest rule is that pregame handshakes can’t last longer than 90 seconds. This may not seem like a big deal, but for young teams like the OKC Thunder (who stage an elaborate, amusing pregame routine of hugs and handshakes every night), it sure is annoying.

Count Kevin Durant among those who aren’t fans of the new regulation.

                Per the Oklahoman:
Before Tuesday night’s preseason game against the Charlotte Bobcats at Chesapeake Energy Arena, Thunder players noticeably rushed their routines before stepping onto the court in time for the tip. Three-time scoring champ Kevin Durant was in the middle of his on-court greetings with teammates when the ball was put in play.

“I personally don’t like it,” Durant said of the 90-second rule. “Every player in this league has routines they do with their teammates, rituals they do before the game and before they walk on the floor. The fans like it. The fans enjoy it. You see the fans mimicking the guys who do their stuff before the game. To cut that down really don’t make no sense. Why would you do it? I really don’t agree with it, but I don’t make the rules.” What adjustments will Durant make? “Maybe I’ve got to go a little quicker,” Durant said. “I’ve got to make sure I acknowledge all my teammates before I walk out on the floor. That’s just how I am. That’s how we are as a team, guys do their thing, their handshakes. I do the tying (of) the shoes, the praying. I’ve just got to speed it up.”
                Tragic.

The long pregame handshake ritual is dead; long live the pregame handshake ritual.

It's always something with this league.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're blaming the length of pregame rituals on some games taking more than 3 hrs to finish.
