I'll take it. Better to get him well than having it bother him all year.

You're absolutely right. Beginning of the season will be rough though.

On the plus side. Didn't the last 82 game Mav season that started off a little rough because of certain injuries to two players in particular have a very happy payoff at the end? Granted Dirk didn't miss six weeks (if memory serves me correctly) then, but still...

Over the course of his long NBA career, journeyman combo guard Jamal Crawford has become known as a dependable veteran scorer. In truth, there's little else he does particularly well. And while Crawford's career shooting percentages — 40.8 percent from … Continue reading →

After 12 NBA seasons and with a firm reputation as a pure shooter, Clippers guard Jamal Crawford tried something during the off-season he had never done before. He practiced shooting.

It's astonishing to think that Crawford, who is the NBA's career leader with 34 four-point plays and ranks 21st all-time with 1,387 three-pointers, didn't routinely spend his summers in stuffy gyms trying to perfect his shot.

"This summer was actually the first summer I worked on my game. I usually just play off of raw talent," he said Thursday after the Clippers' practice. "But I just wanted to work on something and be in great shape coming into camp. I came here right after Labor Day, which is the earliest I've ever gone to any team in the summer, and all the guys were here, committed to getting better.

"Now it's part of my lifestyle, working out and being here, shooting and getting shots up. It gives you more confidence that if you miss one or two, you know you've been working on it every single day and your teammates have confidence because they see it as well."

Welcome to the John Wall school of professional basketball.

I mean this news does not even surprise me one bit.

Season's over. Didn't make the playoffs again. Cry? Nah.

Hit an open rec and take it out on players who will never step foot on an NBA court. Hope someone tapes it and uploads it to Worldstar as you drop 60 at some streetball legend hoops court.

What a waste. Give me that height man.

I see what you're saying but no not really. The first few months of the 2010-2011 season, the Mavs had one of the best records in the league with Dirk and Butler both healthy. Then Butler went down and Dirk went down shortly after. They went 2-9 with Dirk out and then kinda meandered through the rest of the regular season as just a "good" team, hence why most analysts didn't even pick them to beat the Blazers in the first round.

What's his jumpshot looking like since high school?

You could sub in many different players. Wall is the first one that popped in my head.

Seems like a lot of "not working out in offseason" story's have come out this summer.

It's not really all that unusual, I knowTim Duncan generally takes his summers off too...

Yet there have been an abundance of "working hard" stories coming from Detroit, and we'll be terrible anyway.

Although Drummond has looked real good.

Some people's mechanics are just so off that they can only improve so much. I've seen at least two guys that have worked a ton on their jumpshots in the summer and once the season starts it doesn't look like it improved.

That being said..there is nothing fundamentally wrong with either Crawford nor Wall's jump shots.

A time has to come when we stop making excuses for professional athletes.

How bad do they want it?
