    Re: NBA Off Topic

Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo appeared on WEEI's "Mut and Merloni" midday program on Thursday (click HERE to listen) and spent much of the interview discussing the competitive nature that he and Kevin Garnett share.

Asked if he hates rivals like the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, Rondo admitted he's not in this business to make friends.

"Hate’s a strong word, but I agree with my teammate," Rondo said when asked about Jason Terry's comments about disliking rivals. "We don’t like anyone. It’s our job to go out there and win. We’re not trying to be friends with anybody, I think KG shows it best. He plays with a lot of intensity. He has no friends out there on the court, and that’s our mentality.

"That should be everyone’s mentality. We are competing -- there’s no friends on the court. Even if you were playing against a family member like your mother, you still go out there and try to beat her. It’s just a matter of competing. We love to win, I’m very competitive. Anything I do, I want to win. I don’t have time for friends. I don't talk to a lot of these guys in the offseason, so why I should talk to them on the court and try to be their friend?

"I’m playing for my teammates. I know I’m a great teammate -- if you’re not my teammate, I could care less about them."

Rondo was asked if that's a trickle-down instinct from playing alongside the ultra-competitive Garnett.

"That’s been with me since Day 1. KG, obviously, you see it everyday with him," said Rondo. "A guy like that, a future Hall of Famer, guy that’s won every award in this game, goes out and competes the way he does, it’s just contagious. I think it’s good for our young guys, and some of the old. It’s funny, a lot of guys say they don’t like KG until they get on his team. It’s probably a true statement. He’s so competitive, he has no friends out there on court if you’re the opposite team. But when you’re his teammate, he’s the best teammate in the world."

The internet makes people brave in stupid stupid ways.

I bet you he wouldn't go up to Mike Brown himself or even his kid for that matter (Who's much bigger than the average american at 6'3) and say that to his face. Just disgusted right now.

Oh, and Chris Paul is too good. ANOTHER crossover/fakeout.

Chris Paul showed Lillard that he's a rookie, I like Lillard though

Its crazy seeing that clip, you'd think in normal speed, why did he just let him get past him like that and take the shot, then you see what really happened

Its amazing how fast the game is and you see all kinds of things you never realize happens.... when guys play 2k they be like Naw son that aint real life

Seriously though, Blake's jumper is different but its too slow for one and not consistent so he has to keep working on it

In the post though he could probably pull off some hakeem moves if he worked with him because he has some pretty decent foot work and pump fakes, but he has some room to grow for sure

If he and DJ would get agressive together down low, teams would have a huge fight on their hands in so many ways

The last time that was entertaining was when Stevenson wore a shirt that said "Hey Lebron, how does my dirk taste" or something like that after the finals the Mavs won.. but this whole thing is stale.

He's got anxiety issues about flying. Here's the article where I read about it.

Royce White and the Rockets have a plan.

The Houston rookie has a well-documented case of anxiety disorder that manifests a pretty serious fear of flying. Which of course is kind of an issue in the NBA seeing as teams play 41 road games each season in 29 cities.

White missed the beginning of Houston's training camp because of his anxiety issues as well as trying to organize a plan with the team that can get him to road games as well as minimize the amount of travel stress he'd go through. And according to White's agent Andrew Vye via Fox News 26 in Houston, the Rockets and White have something in place.

"We've all come to an agreement that he is going to be able to drive to the games that he does not feel he can fly to," Vye said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "We are going to work as best we can through the schedule.

"Royce knows at certain times he is going to have to fly, but when he can drive he is going to have the option to do that. Everybody is on board with that including the league, the union. the Rockets, and Royce and us."
White had previously said he wanted to travel via bus to some road games, even willing to take on the costs of it. But logistics appeared to be a roadblock (sorry). With back-to-back games in different cities and not a whole lot of games close to Houston, the arrangement was going to have to be creative.

And like his agent said, White is going to have to fly sometimes. But the Rockets are trying to accomodate him the best they can because the reality is, they want White on the floor and performing at his highest level. If that means he walks to games or rides a unicyle, that's what they want.

White has appeared in two of Houston's preseason games, one on the road in Dallas and the other at home. He's only played a total of 28 minutes and scored just seven points total, but it's a process for White. He knows what's ahead of him and so do the Rockets. General manager Daryl Morey isn't one that doesn't do his homework. The team is remaining patient and trying their best to maxmize White's potential. And that starts by making sure he's not only at games, but relaxed and in the right frame of mind too.
