I actually really like that option of getting the ball, or the foul shots. That would likely eliminate the hack a shaq fouling period. Go ahead, foul him, but we'll just get the ball back, and you'll have one more team foul

Very nice. Doesn't change the fact that these dude's need to be able to sink a FT.

I don't agree and here is why

A foul is a foul... if you're pro you should be able to work on your FTs

All this dude is doing is once again trying to mask the deficiency of a player because it affects his bottom line... This man is full of it

Amazing since he never thought to check his referees on the type of crap they pull to get people to the line.

Seriously man his time has passed...he's too old now. I think that last lockout fried his brains

I can see both sides of it. Yes it is a legal strategy and guys damn sure should work on their foul shooting. On the other hand as a fan of the game it can get beyond boring to sit there and watch a team constantly foul the same guy everytime he touches the ball on purpose just so they can play the odds of him missing a free throw. It slows the game down to a crawl and makes the game last a lot longer.

Personally I don't think they should do anything about it. They already changed the rule to stop guys from doing when the player doesn't have the ball. I love that and glad they did that. If Dwight or whoever makes his free throws though the whole hack-a-whoever goes away. Plus it makes too much of a grey area for the refs to have to decide if it's a guy doing the hack-a-thing or just a foul by a guy trying to stop somebody from scoring. i say just leave it as is.

Its always a chance you miss a free throw period, thats why guys dont just give free looks at the basket.

Its just not something to be tampered with. If Shaq had to go through it then these guys do too.. hit your freaking ft's

I agree with you. I said the same thing. But I also see why a lot of people don't like it from a watching the game or flow of the game standpoint. I don't think it should be changed at all and chances are it won't be changed.

Remember before a rule like this could be put in place it has to be voted in. I honestly don't see them getting enough votes for this to go through.

I just want David Stern to go away. Its just december and he's already getting on my nerves. He's like Jesse Jackson... only steps in when it involves money

This is ridiculous. Stern only gives a **** because its the Lakers. If some no-name center gets hacked a bunch because he can't shoot free throws, or gets hacked every time he goes up (coughBrendanHaywoodcough), Stern doesn't give two ****s about it.

And Hack-a-Dwight is nothing new, Stern didn't seem to be bothered by it when it was happening in Orlando.

Stern has some nerve and needs to check himself in a retirement home. When a guy is shooting under 50% free throws I don't care what level of basketball you're playing the smart play at the end of the game is to foul that guy.

Changing the rules cause these professional athletes can't make free throws is irrational.

If that was the case, this **** would have been brought up and made a larger issue when Shaq was a Laker. I didn't hear crap about Stern wanting to change anything then.

The Lakers were winning during Hack-a-Shaq.

I know you don't want to admit that the commissioner of the NBA is biased towards your favorite team, but come on. This is something that's been going on for a long time, and all of a sudden Stern is super concerned with it because its affecting Dwight Howard and the Lakers, the NBA's biggest cash cow.
