Seriously, if I'm a parent of a kid on the opposing team, I'm checking that dude's ID. Hopefully this kid actually puts that size to good use and learns some **** and doesn't develop an ego. Part of dude's like Eddy Curry's problem is they were bigger than the other guys and were able to look dominate so they thought they were the **** when they really weren't playing against nobody thinking they were NBA ready.

SI.com: I’d be remiss if I didn’t ask you about the Marbury-for-Kidd trade, even if you’ve been asked thousands of times. Would you have made that trade today, with all the advanced analytics and stats we have now?
Thorn: Marbury was 22 and he was a great young player — an All-Star. Kidd was 28 and had a lot of problems. I had been around Kidd with the [2000] Olympic team in Puerto Rico. Every player wanted to play with Jason Kidd. Nobody on that team wanted to play with Stephon. Nobody wanted to play with the guy. Kidd had every intangible you could possibly have. He guarded. He rebounded. He was great chemistry-wise because he passed the ball. Even though at the time there was a lot of criticism because of the difference in ages, I knew it was a good trade, because I had been around both guys, and I knew who was a better player. Kidd made our team twice as good right away.
SI.com: People forget how competitive the 2003 Finals against the Spurs was.
Thorn: We should have beaten them. Honestly. We had a matchup with them that was much better. When we played the Lakers [in the 2002 Finals], we could have played the Lakers 100 times and we probably would have won three games. They were unbelievable. With the Spurs, that was a great matchup, and we gave that one game away in San Antonio, where we had big lead going into the fourth quarter.
                    SI.com: Game 6, right?
Thorn: It was Game 6. We had something like a 12-point lead, and Kerry Kittles had just scored 12 points in the third quarter [Editor's note: Kittles scored 11 points in the third quarter.] and he got back in the game with three minutes left [actually 5:20]. We, like, just kinda forgot about him. And now the game is even again.
SI.com: What matchup specifically are you referring to when you say you guys had a favorable matchup with the Spurs?
Thorn: I’m thinking as a team. [Tim] Duncan was great, and we couldn’t match up with him. But at every other position, we could match up with those guys — or outmatch them. The wild card was [Manu] Ginobili.
SI.com: I also have to ask about that crazy Boston series from the 2002 playoffs — the one when the Celtics had that massive comeback in Game 3 in Boston. A couple of folks over the years have mentioned how furious Kidd was about Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker jumping on the scorer’s table to celebrate that win. That he would still talk about it years later. Is that true?
Thorn: That game was a low point. I’ll never forget that. It pissed Kidd off. It pissed everybody off. The fans were also screaming at Jason, “Wife-beater! Wife-beater!” And his wife was there! And then somebody spotted her when they were leaving the arena in a van, and they started rocking the van.
But Jason had that slit-eyed look about him the next day. We had a meeting the next day, and [coach] Byron Scott were talking about this and that — and I’ll never forget it — Jason said, “Hey, don’t worry. We’re going to win this next game. I’ll guarantee you we win this next game.”

LOS ANGELES -- According to former Los Angeles Lakers general manager Jerry West, teams needn't worry so much about a superstar demanding to be traded.
West, being careful not to mention players by name, alluded to situations like the one the Orlando Magic currently faces with Dwight Howard, saying there's no reason teams should give into those demands.
Asked what he would do as a lead executive in a situation where a superstar has made it known he wants out, the ex-Laker executive said it was fairly clear-cut.

"I honestly think I'd call their bluff," West said in an interview on 710 ESPN's Mason and Ireland show Thursday, not mentioning Howard specifically. "I really would, because I don't think any agent or player is going to leave $30 million on the table.
"I just don't believe that's going to happen."
West, of course, was referencing the provision in the NBA's collective bargaining agreement that allows players to re-sign with their current teams for one more year and more annual money than any other squad.
He cited that as the primary reason he wouldn't comply with a superstar's trade demands. And he also said he wouldn't want a player on his team who didn't want to be there and wouldn't want many of the players that would come back in a deal for a high-salaried superstar.
"If I were an executive on a team where a player says he's going to leave, let him leave," West said on 710 ESPN's Max and Marcellus show earlier Thursday. "It would be better than saddling yourself with a bunch of players that are not going to fit in to what you're trying to do -- high-salaried players, in many cases overpaid players by today's standards, that would burden you going forward. "I'd almost rather start over again myself. You're not going to replace that player, but there's an enormous penalty there and it looks like to me like the inmates are running the asylum if you let that happen."
West, 73, worked as the Lakers' head decision-maker for some 19 years, winning six titles in the process. He orchestrated the deals for Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, among others, before spending five years in charge of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Now working as an executive board member for the Golden State Warriors, West is keenly aware of the changing structure of the modern NBA, where superstars and their agents try to wrestle away the power to arrange deals from the teams themselves.
He said that makes executives' jobs tougher, but not impossible.
"You're dealing with a superstar and probably a high-profile agent who is trying to put that player's career, maybe, in an ancillary market where there might be more money available to you," West said. "Today, I think, you look at the real punitive damage when a player says, 'I want you to trade me somewhere else.'"
"We have an awful lot of players who say I want to go here or I want to go there. And I think that's what takes some of the joy out of the game and particularly fans and cities that have supported teams."
