Re: NBA Off Topic
Just saw what Kobe said about management, im sure im late on this and many may disagree but did he really say its hard to get motivated to play not knowing where your going to be? In my best Ozzie Guillen voice " psst please!" man these dudes..how about the millions your making being motivation enough for you to play? If its so hard to play while they are deciding if they want to trade you or not give a part of your salary to charity or other people who need it and sit out...just had to rant a little hehLast edited by Sinner; 02-21-2012, 10:49 AM.-= Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.=- Edward MurphyComment

Re: NBA Off Topic
Oh my goodness. Thanks for that Pack. I don't know why I find airballs to be so damn hilarious. I was dying at Rondo's. His "Aww ****!" combined with Ray Allen's reaction, and Marv's "WOW" were perfect. lmao
This is probably my favorite airball of all time. Not the NBA. Not even college. Or even high school for that matter. But funny none the less...

Daniel Tosh just said the difference between Jeremy Lin and Tim Tebow is that Lin is probably a decent QB.Comment

Long time Bulls fans, honest question. What's Phils legacy in Chicago outside of the titles, was he liked by management, what bridges did he burn while there? Negative and positive.
Trying to piece together something and am looking at history. I know there are some people on this board who know alot a out the happenings there.

Re: NBA Off Topic
Umm for the most part he was liked. Him and Krause had kind of a strained relationship because I think Jerry felt that maybe Phil was getting to much of the credit for the Bulls success when he thought it was him for putting the team together.
Just some little things, like Jackson wasn't invited to Krause's daughters? wedding. Then in 1997, the Bulls rehired Phil, and during the press conference, Krause announced that Phil would not be returning, no matter if they won the title or not. There was even reports of some shouting matches between them at team practices.
As far as the players go, they loved him. Obviously him and Jordan developed quite a relationship, but even before he was head coach, you could tell that they responded better to him than Doug Collins, who was the coach before.
As a fan, I am forever grateful for his tenure here and the success he brought our franchise. I mean how can I not be? 6 ships in 8 years? Unparalleled success that we haven't seen since.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic
Thing is though it wasnt Phil as much as Krause
He had issues with almost everyone even the city of Chicago when it was said and done
I still remember them winning a ring and he pushed to sign Kukoc before signing Pip to another contract... He kind of ended the team before they wanted it to endComment

Re: NBA Off Topic
He made the All-Star team and his team sucks. What attention does he want?
Should he get attention for the Nets 10 wins this season?Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic
Thought we were past the "(Insert player here)teams sucks, who cares about him" but apparently not. Damn Matrix, I understand what you have to deal with when it comes to Nash LOL.
Williams is proving that we largely forget about players who end up in losing situations, no matter how hard they fight to turn around the fortunes of their lost franchises. Williams' per-possession rates are nearly identical to those of his best seasons in Utah -- assists, scoring, turnovers, steals -- but because the Nets are awful, he was a fringe All-Star in the East and has been on the tip of no one's tongue. We tempt fate by complaining, but Williams' pending free agency has largely been forgotten outside of the Nets fan community and Dallas' finest conspiracy clubs. Everyone forgot about Deron.
Just like in the game thread, you and some other dude were said "Oh, this was Deron's best game, he'll never have a game like this"(either you didn't know or didn't care to know), even though this isn't the first time he's had a game like this, at all this year. You for the most part have been defending Deron, but when I seen that comment I was hoping that wasn't the bitter side of you coming out.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 02-22-2012, 11:48 AM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Off Topic
Oakley not saying anything we don't about Garnett but Barkley?
Charles Oakley has opinions. And he will tell you them. And you will listen. Or he will destroy you. And now the former Knick has turned his attention to two outspoken NBA personalities in Kevin Garnett and the Chuckster, Charles Barkley.
Oakley appeared on "The Jim Rome Show"with Jim Rome Tuesday and spoke about the two. He did not hold back. You are not surprised. To the quotes! From Sports Talk Network:"Garnett left Minnesota and hollered and screamed and all that but he's not a tough guy. He’s one of the weakest guys to ever play the game. He’s a complimentary player and went to Paul Pierce’s team and won a championship. I wouldn’t consider him a top 10 tough guy."via Charles Oakley rips KG, Barkley.
Oakley's claims are harsh, no shock there, but they are reflective of the other side of KG. Garnett comes off as so intense because of the screaming and pounding his head against the stanchion and whatnot. And he has been known to get into some physical altercations... usually with diminutive point guards. His M.O is usually to reach out and slap or shove someone, then to back off while being "restrained" by his teammates.
Thing is, that's a good thing.
Garnett shows restraint, which helps his team win ball games. He protects his reputation, gets in the head of his opponents, and doesn't get ejected. It's the best of all worlds. And while Garnett is certainly not as tough as the character he portrays when the arena lights come on, to say he's one of the weakest to ever play is absurd. You can't be as great a defender as he is without being at least slightly-above-average tough.
But I'll let you tell Oakley that. Because he terrifies me.
Oaklay also weighed in on legend Charles Barkley, a friend of Michael Jordan who Oakley is also notoriously close with. He was not much nicer to the Round Mound Who Isn't So Round Anymore:Barkley for his size was a good player but he’s a coward though. He was a good player for his size but, he wasn’t a leader and wasn’t a role model. Now he talks so bad about younger guys, I don’t respect that from him…He’s a fraud, he can criticize all the younger kids and if he got something to say, call them and talk to them before you just blast them. He’s wants to be funny, that whole TNT thing and all that, they’re like some clowns on that show.via Charles Oakley rips KG, Barkley.
As Jim Rome would say, "strong."
Jeez, Oak, don't hold back. Tell us how you feel.#RespectTheCultureComment
