Saying he is one of the best is one thing because that he is. But yes it is funny and just wrong for someone to say he is the best. There is a difference in being more versatile at scoring and being better at scoring. The point on offense is to put the ball in the basket not how many different ways you can do it. I don't care if a guy has 10 different ways to score the score the ball if they guy who only has 5 ways to score is scoring more at scoring at a higher percentage then he is the better scorer.

There is no doubt without any question LeBron is a better scorer than Melo and honestly it isn't even debatable IMO. LeBron is THIRD all time in PPG. Only Jordan and Wilt are ahead of him. That should speak for itself. Then you have the fact that year in and year out he scores more points on the same amount of shots and shoots a better percentage. Then if you want to look at big game ability just compare how many 40 and 50 point games LeBron has compared to Melo. It is not even close. LeBron can score 30 without even trying it seems sometimes. Hell just compare their numbers this year and it is not even close in the slightest bit. How is it even a question of who is the better scorer??

That doesn't even get into Durant who has the last two scoring titles and Kobe who has a mountain of mosterous scoring numbers. Melo in my book is without question behind those three guys when it comes to who is a BETTER scorer. You might could argue that he has more ways to score but you can't argue that he is better at scoring than they are?? There are zero numbers that support that argument.

Very valid point. At least Jordan and Ed Nealy weren't poplocking up and down the sideline during the course of the game though.

Great decision to sit Rose tonight. Bulls demolish Cleveland regardless.

Need to sit at least the next two games.

I guess it's because the Lakers really didn't want him. So technically, he's just "doing his job."

I think he sees the Lakers are in transition, and he may have decided to check out mentally/emotionally. Who knows?

Then again, he could be sleeping on the couch again, you know?

He would bring a nice dynamic with Amar'e bit they still wouldn't compete with the trio in South Beach and the depth of the Bulls (and Rose is better than him too).

I think hitting a shot then fist pumping was more than enough.

But I guess you can determine what's worse.

I'm not too sure, but I think Kobe and/or Durant can't score in as many ways as Melo. That doesn't mean I'm saying Melo is better - Kobe is better than Melo in a lot of ways - I'm just saying he can score effectively in a multitude of ways. It's up for debate though, you could argue Durant, Kobe, etc. But I think a lot of people think Melo is the best pure scorer in the league.

As for him being overrated, it's not really his fault. He came out with LeBron, and it instantly became him vs. LeBron, being compared ot him, etc. Then that kinda died down, but he was always considered a star after that.
The thing with Carmelo though is he's capable of scoring in all those ways, but he doesn't do it efficiently.

2nd EDIT: I see this has been addressed already as well, geesh I need to go back to observing

Wait...what exactly is overdue? He ain't done jack squat since he's been in the league so what exactly is overdue? Recognizing that he can shoot 3s? Right because it's not like we haven't seen a player like him before
Noone has ever given him the credit he deserves. He's criminally underrated, and if "jack squat" means "average 10 a game off the bench", then yeah he's done just that. I don't know why everyone can't show him some respect or give him some credit for proving all of you wrong. Everyone here said he'd be out of the league after his rookie contract was up, and now he's one of the best 6th men in the league and could easily start for most teams. The way he's been criticized is neither fair nor right. He more than held his own matching up against Ray Allen in the playoffs two years ago on both sides of the floor, but nothing was said.
