You have been given the opportunity to take over the general management duties of a Basketball Team in the NBA. However you are presented with two choices. You can take Team 1 which has a core group of Veteran Players that still have a couple of years left in the tank and the possible chance of winning a title right now. Or you can take Team 2 that is composed of some young dynamic players that have the chance of developing into something special a few years down the line, nothing here is guaranteed but this team has a large amount of potential. Who do you take, and why?

You make the choice
I Thought This would be a fun scenario to present to everyone so here it goes.

Looks like no one answered you...
Team 1 is the obvious choice winning is the only thing that matters in professional sports. Win one title and you can work forever.
Team 2 while attractive, they have no guarantees realistically by the time you determine what piece you are missing to get them over the top. You would be fired allowing someone else to inherit your "Team 1".Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Dallas Mavericks

Re: You make the choice
What's Team 1's Salary Cap situation looking like compared to Team 2?
FWIW, I'd go with Team 2. I can take 1-2 years of growing pains if it means the possibility of having 5-6 years of sustained success with a developed roster built from the ground up.
Whereas with Team 1, the players only have a few years left, assuming the core players are in their early-mid 30s. Which means if I don't win anything in that short time span, it'll be awhile before I get that close again.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: You make the choice
Team 2.
I'm a big fan of team's with young talent that has potential. I was really attracted to the Thunder before they broke out that one season, etc.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: You make the choice
I'll take team two every time. I'd rather be set up like the Thunder and be built for a long sustained run of success rather than have a window of two or three years for success and then be tossed by the wayside as we enter rebuilding (ala the Celtics).Browns
Cavaliers
Indians

Re: You make the choice
So ya'll would rather the chance to win a title vs actually winning one?Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Dallas Mavericks

Re: You make the choice
What's the difference when neither is GUARANTEED to win? Of course the logical answer in that is just having A chance but I'd rather have multiple chanceS at it.
Now if I was tied with Phil Jackson for the most rings all time and I wanted to break that tie, then I'd chose Team 1.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: You make the choice
So to sum it up, would you take the 2008 Celtics or the 2009 Thunder ...
Personally I'd go with Team 2 as I will have a bright future and possibly plenty of cap space (assuming most players are still on their rookie contracts) to sign a couple of solid veterans (who are still in their prime) to guide the young team towards to right direction.Comment
