Re: Supersonics coming back?!
The attendance has been better. I doubt the tv money is quite as good though - there just aren't nearly as many people in OKC as in Seattle-Tacoma.
The move was never about money, though, despite what they all said. The ownership group wanted to bring a team to OKC.Comment

Re: Supersonics coming back?!
Just watched that for the 1st time last night. Really makes you despise Bennett and Stern. The fact that OKC got to keep all the banners and the 1979 Championship trophy after that punk move is dispicable. Stern really needs to go...EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: Supersonics coming back?!
In this case they can. One of the agreements of the Sonics relocating to OKC, was that Seattle would retain the rights to the logo and the name Supersonics.
I don't care if they don't have the history, because us fans still will recognize their history as just that, theirs. Whether the Thunder own the rights to it or not. If a team returns to Seattle, it couldn't be called anything else. It wouldn't be right.

These need to be on a basketball court again.Comment

Re: Supersonics coming back?!
That and I'm not comfortable with the NBA/owners naming abilities. The Thunder really isn't that great a name and they're jerseys and logos are terrible. Then there's the mess that are the WNBA teams. Atlanta Dream? Please just make it the Sonics and avoid the collective barfing of the entire sports world by coming up with some garbage like the Seattle Stunners or something equally uninspiring. In this case they can. Re: Supersonics coming back?!
The same problem that caused the Sonics to move (no new arena) still hasn't changed.
Seattle won't get a new team (NHL or NBA) without a new arena.
Key Arena was losing money for the team and for the city of Seattle.Last edited by jyoung; 02-13-2012, 11:52 PM.Comment

Get those back in the NBA and get Kevin Calabro announcing Sonics games again. I miss this guy announcing the home team, he's too sterile when he's doing the national games. In this case they can.
