Funny how Live 02 was mediocre last year and yet it garners near 700k sales. Such is life with the EA juggernaut. Now if only Blizzard would make a sports game it would get 1 million sales in presales alone! :P

This is the reason why EA doesn't think they need to change their game. Sales. When we all know the game sucked *** last year, but someone is buying it.

One of the main reasons Live sold more then 2k2 was that live was because live was available at the start of the season while 2k2 came out in January. 2k2 missed both the christmas holidays and the beginning of the season which is a big time when people buy video games

Exactly............look ad Dreamcast version, it came out on time and even though DC is dead it still sold over 700,000 copies.

Sorry guys but I added to the Live sales because just like everyone else said it came out 2 months before every other game and I desperately needed a basketball.

                    Go figure though

Nba live had been featured on TNT and TBS telecasts of the NBA almost every week with Charles, Kenny, and Erinie.

They advertised that game for a good 3 months, and then again when draft time came along.

Most live buyers are those that don't have computers (It's not a bad thing), they get the game based on respect from previous versions that they played as a child and we only hope the next live and years after that are better than the current live.

It seems like EA-made stuff always does good. Man, GTA III in the top 3 still, whew.

EA is a marketing giant. Proof can be seen in their Madden 03 commercials which are better (imo) then the NFL 2k3 commercials

                          Re: sales numbers

NBA 2K2 sold more copies than NBA Live 2002 when you include Dreamcast copies sold and it did not come out for PS2 and XBOX during the holiday season. Also, NFL 2K3 is taking a huge bite out of EA's Madden football market share according to retailers. EA is in trouble which is why I am shorting the stock. Now that NBA 2K3 will be released in October for the major consoles instead of the following year, EA will pay the price for their lazyiness. EA's market share will continue to decline. The stock is over valued and insiders are selling the stock like mad because they know their market share is in deep trouble.
