Pau Gasol was never the best PF in the league. However, he was (and continues to be), extremely "complete", with his greatest asset being his footwork and polish.

Dirk Nowitski, he has proven himself as a leader & a great player in the clutch. In my opinion those are main characteristics that differentiate between a complete player & a "best player".

After him it's quite blurry; I like Chris Bosh for his clutch (He's the most clutch of the big 3, if not then he's tied with wade), yet LaMarcus Aldridge is a post-scoring PF, as a PF in my opinion it's essential to be able to score in the post. When shots don't go in you need a player with post presence. On the other hand, Kevin Love is a very complete player, not a leader yet although he proves himself in the clutch so far, very very consistent and who can be pissed when your bigman rebounds & hustles that much? so for me it would be :
        -Dirk
        -Bosh/Love/Aldridge
        -Griffin

          Kevin Love. 24-15.

He's 2nd in rebounding in the NBA and just won the 3pt contest and is top 5 in scoring.

Regardless of whether or not he won the 3 point contest, in the actual GAMES, he's only shooting 34% from the three.

Pau was right up there for those few years with Dirk, and I would have rather had Pau than Dirk during those years. As I always say, Dirk was the better player, but I'd rather go with Pau and his skill set from 2007-2009.

Dirk is still the best PF and I don't know how anyone can really argue with that.

                Make up your mind's.

Oh and the answer is Kevin Love. But don't expect the Wolves to win the title anytime soon. Just give the man his props.

Who was the last guy to put up 25 PPG and 14 RPG in a season? I don't know, but I know who's never done it: Shaq, Hakeem, David Robinson, Charles Barkley, and Patrick Ewing just to name a few. Moses Malone is probably the most recent guy that comes to mind. Not saying K-Love is on those player's levels, but the numbers he puts up are very, very impressive.
To be technical (since you're being pretty technical with those names you pulled... just as one example, I'll take Shaq's 29+ points and 13 rebounds over Love's 25 and 14... especially when you throw in over 3 blocks a game too) Love hasn't put up 25 ppg and 14 rpg in a season either. That's what he's averaging right now half way through a strike shortened season. His best full season line was last year at 20 ppg and 15 rpg. Still nothing to sneeze at but unless you're only looking at rebounds, all the names you've mentioned have lines that do just fine against that.

This is also in reply to that earlier post, Dirk was the "best" back then too. Just because some uninformed people didn't give him the credit that he deserved until he won a ring doesn't mean the rest weren't aware. If he wasn't the best it was because of guys like Garnett and Duncan being closer to their primes, not any of the names being thrown around now.

And Gasol is still very close to the top so it's really not that farfetched that one would have him ahead of Dirk while others don't... or that someone could change their mind over the course of a year. It's not like one went from D league to the top while the other went from the top to 12 man. Both of these guys are among the best PFs in the game right now.
