MARV ALBERT: Hello and welcome everyone to this NBA preseason game between the Lakers and the Nuggets. We're broadcasting live from the 56-room Lodge & Spa in Eagle, Colorado, where the players are just hitting the floor. How do you see these two teams matching up tonight, Bill?
BILL WALTON: This is one of the more unorthodox preseason games I've seen, Marv, mainly because we'll only have two players out on the court. Nevertheless, this is a valuable opportunity for both teams to work out their kinks before the regular season.
MARV ALBERT: And we all know how difficult it can be to work those kinks out.
BILL WALTON: Absolutely, Marv. In this game Kobe Bryant, representing the Lakers, is up against a relatively unknown Kate Faber of the Denver Nuggets. Going into this game, I think Kobe matches up well with Kate. He's got the obvious size advantage, being 6'6 and 220 lbs, compared to Kate, who comes in at 5'4, 128 lbs, so I think Kate will have to beat him mentally to have a chance.
MARV ALBERT: With that, the players are ready for the opening strip-off. And we're underway. Kobe wins the battle for position, but Kate's holding her own.
BILL WALTON: I'm impressed so far. She's handling the low post like a veteran.
MARV ALBERT: Bryant backs her down and tries to score, but he's having problems getting it in the hole.
BILL WALTON: Kate's really doing a great job of denying penetration.
MARV ALBERT: Bryant continues to pound inside, but it looks like he's been called for a flagrant foul.
BILL WALTON: Throw her down, big man! Throw her down!
MARV ALBERT: She was signaling for a time out, but I don't think the refs saw it.
BILL WALTON: Boy, this one's getting ugly. With all the pushing, shoving, and grinding going in, it reminds me of an Eastern Conference game.
MARV ALBERT: It looks like Kate will run out the clock and this one's in the books. Bryant comes out on top.
BILL WALTON: She was manhandled out there, Marv. I think she'll be feeling the effects of this one for a while.
