To be fair, he did turn the knicks around pretty quickly in 1 year.

They were 7th seed last year also, And i think he meant on a defensive stand point. And yes, Ibaka Should've won. But that's as an NBA fan. As a knicks fan, I'm happy that Chandler got his award.

Tyson actually has a higher defensive win share than Ibaka does and Ibaka definitely benefits from playing with Perkins who handles the majority of the man-to-man duty allowing Ibaka to get help side blocks. The Knicks have actually become a better defensive team than OKC (from 21st to 5th in defensive efficiency while OKC is 11th) and it wasn't because of Amar'e or Melo or D'Antoni's ineptitude.

Someone like Josh Smith or LeBron probably deserved it more than Ibaka.

                    I dont agree

they probably did this because of how badly him leaving affected Dallas

Wonder what other sham awards will be given out this year

Except we still had a top 10 defense without him.

Which is fine but it still had a big effect on the Mavs

Its not a 100% thing, its just a thought

I think the Mavs' ability to sustain a strong defense has more to do with how they guard the perimeter (Marion, West, the occasional solid Kidd defensive game) than their ability to protect the rim. They've throw together a hodgepodge of Haywood, Wright and Mahinmi down low that has looked fairly disastrous at times.

In Tyson's case, if you can help turn a team with Melo, Amare and D'Antoni (for half the season, at least) into one of the better defensive teams in the league, you've got my vote. Dude's a miracle worker, in that case.

I won't argue with the selection. I think Chandler is deserving. I would have personally picked Ibaka. You could have also considered Howard and even Lebron.

Got no problem or issue with the choice.

Congrats to Tyson and like others said, if you can turn around a team of Melo, Amar'e and D'antoni and have them become one of the better defensive teams in the league, then you've done a damn good *** job in that regard.
