Re: Report: Tyson Chandler to win DPOY

All of the Interwebz is up in arms that "Ibaka was robbed" when it's probably Duhwight that was still the most deserving. It's like MJ in the 90's, the voters just got tired of giving him the MVP award that they decided to switch it up twice for no good reason.

I'm happy Chandler won, his impact on the game is never measured by a box score. Ibaka is a great help defender/shot blocker and was deserving too but people need to relax "he was robbed" stuff. Numbers and the highlights they see on TV tell so little of the story. Chandler is clearly deserving as well.

Not sure how much defensive rebounding, and rebounding as a whole weighs on this decision. I gotta think this had to hurt Ibaka in the voting, still a great year for him. He's gotta good chance to grab a few of these before he is done.

Im not up in arms or anything myself, but its not like the Knicks are top 5 in defense... that argument doesnt help this case especially since other guys have done similar or better .

...and getting tired of someone is not a criteria to not give something to someone. If you have what it takes to get it, then take it from that individual.

Congrats to Tyson though... he's a hometown kid

But sadly it is for these idiots that vote.

I don't think it was that the voters got tired of Dwight. I think they let the whole Dwight saga get in the way of voting for him.

Its hard to say if he was deserving since the criteria for these awards is vague. Chandler is a good weak-side help defender, but his man to man defense is barely average. Serge Ibaka has terrific range but is easily drawn out of position. Same goes for Howard. Tony Allen would have been a righteous choice.

How much do you think minutes played and games played should factor into the voting?

Re: Report: Tyson Chandler to win DPOY

What is this nonsense? A belated, "oh sorry, should have given this to you in Dallas last year for helping win a championship" award?

No way Chandler should have won this award: his block and defensive rebounding rates are nowhere near top tier, and he plays for one of the worst Defensive teams in the league. Not to mention his, at best, average man-to-man defensive ability. Sure, he brings a mental toughness and focus to the defensive end, but not so great as to overcome his statistical short-comings.

This is Howard fatigue: didn't want to give him the award again. Lebron, Ibaka and Howard all deserve the award more so than Chandler.
