Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI- FINALS THREAD
For some reason, Chuck does not like OKC. He's been talking ish about them all season. Basically saying jumpshooting teams struggle in the playoffs.I just don't understand the gripe about jump shots, or the notion that if you wait long enough OKC will miraculously start missing? OKC is a jump shooting team, that's who they are. They finished with one of the better team FG%'s and were third in PPG, the shots they were making against the Lakers were shots they've been making all season.
If you let them play the PnR game, come off screens, and get into the paint for open mid range jumpers each time down, they aren't going to start missing.
Reggie and Chuck weren't making much sense to me, especially considering the jump shooting Mavericks swept this same LA squad en route to a title just last season.
Other than that, we got our asses kicked last night.Last edited by Jasong7777; 05-15-2012, 07:22 AM.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI- FINALS THREAD
Title teams don't get embarrassed like this... twice in one week much less, third time in the playoffs.
Doesn't bode well for LA. OKC in 5 is looking good. They're primed and ready. Hopefully Perkins is OK.Comment

Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI- FINALS THREAD
On page two I originally said OKC in 6, I may have to go with 5 as well. Yes it's only one game, but I just don't see L.A. taking this series in any way, shape or form. I can't imagine OKC shooting lights out like that the entire series but they won't need to, they can drive (and were) as well.
Let's see how they respond to this *** kicking in game two.Comment

Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI- FINALS THREAD
I think he tried to cover up by saying that they had 17 days off over the entire playoffs but that was a total train-wreck. I changed the station and felt bad for Kenny that he had to defend one of his rings because somebody completely disrespected something he helped accomplished in Houston. Kenny took that pretty well."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI- FINALS THREAD
I probably should comment in the other thread. But I think EJ was simply saying that the call stirred a debate. I thought EJ was defending the call especially in comparison to Shaq and Barkley. There are a number of people that didn't think that should have been called, not me but I heard other talking heads saying it.Isn't that the way it always is though? Did 'blank' win or 'blank' lose?
On another note, what's up with TNT guys tonight. Did Ernie really just call the KG play controversial? There was nothing controversial about that play, KG was moving as he's been doing on screens for his entire career.
Edit: I enjoy Barkley and Kenny, but this is the same crew that sided with Dwight on the Van Gundy issue after SVG comments before the Knicks game. I did think Kenny tried to say that the moving screen was the right call but its rarely called there.Last edited by phenom1990; 05-15-2012, 09:57 AM."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. Shaq telling this story like he in the barbershop and nobody did their homework or can look up the stats and even forgetting that one guy actually played in the same series is sitting right across from him..
"Yeah... we practiced 3 days took 2 days off. Practiced another 3... another 2 off."
That don't even add up right Shaq...Comment

Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI- FINALS THREAD
That video only shows half of the segment
Ernie came back later in the show and called Shaq.. Dr O'neal, mocking his degree and telling him that he can't count.
Showed the dates of the entire playoffs for the Magic that year including the finals, and between the two (ECF and Finals) it was 3 days in between
Shaq tried to play it off like it was a looooong time ago or some crap like that.
I tend to not usually be on him for anything, but his entire analysis last night as well as Barkley's and Reggies were completely doo doo in substance.Comment

man... . Just that segment alone is cringeworthy. If you are saying they tried to play it off even later, must have been a rough night for him. That video only shows half of the segment

Kenny Smith's head popped up real quick though when he said 17 days. He knew immediately this was going down a tall tale path, should have saved the Big Man from himself at that point..Comment

Thought he was going to reference the 2001 Finals at 1st, since that was the one... you know where the Lakers actually had rust lol. That video only shows half of the segment

Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI- FINALS THREAD
LOL Kenny's head did pop up, and im glad somebody in the studio did research on that, becuase not only did the true dates defy everything he said, but so did OKC.
Durant actually said they were looking forward to the time off because they were playing so many games in so many days.
When you are young like that you recover quicker and are rested up, and you itch to get back on the court, and its not a rust thing at all, although someone who does something repetetively does need to stay in the flow to not get thrown off...these guys just swept the last champs, you can't come in here thinking they arent going to make shots, let me chill til whenever im ready.
Just couldnt stand all the jumpshot talk last night. Im sorry I didnt realize its a fundamental past of the game of basketball.. Might as well have thrown dribbling in there too... Those darn OKC thunders, eventually their going to have to stop dribbling ballComment

Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI- FINALS THREAD
I get the point they were trying to make though 23 even though they may have over done it. Part of the Bulls problem in the Sixers series is they started falling in love with jumpshots and not taking the ball to the basket and drawing fouls/getting easy points. Some nights those shots are going to fall and keep falling. Some nights you're gonna build a whole neighborhood of houses with all the bricks that are going to go up. Granted OKC does go to the basket, I can see why someone would say they trust them to go all the way because of all the jumpshooting they tend to do in their half court sets.Comment

They had no point. They just sat there from tip-off waiting for them to miss shots.
Not one of those knuckleheads said anything about the balanced game Westbrook had did they?
All Kenny said was WB would have to average 25 for them to win...didnt he average like 23ppg during the season, something like that? SMH at these guys man.
Reggie who lived off the jumpshot and made his career on them, then Chuck who last week called Reggie's rushed 3 vs the Knicks in the playoffs "supreme confidence"
These guys swallow their own foot sometimesComment
