Re: King of Flop?
Vlade divac was, is, and always will be the undisputed king of floppers cause he puts soccer players too shame... I know this is about 2011-2012 but none of the guys Listed has mastered the art the way vlade did(and it is an art form lol)... MJ should be on the list as well cause to quote magic Johnson "you can't get to close to Michael it's a foul"Comment

Really, he's only even considered such a big flopper bc of his match ups with Shaq. But people forget that Shaq just moved people out of the way. He was a monster, and in many cases the only proper defensive move to stop him (besides fouling him) was to hold your ground and draw a charge when he tried to back you down. The counter to this move is for a player to pull up for the shot, which we know wasn't a strength of Shaq... and the "back em down" technique worked wonders on 90% of guys trying to guard him one on one. Vlad was one of the few big enough to actually TRY to body a little and get in position for the call.
When big men back down (especially in the playoffs) no ref is calling an offensive foul unless the defender falls, even if they are holding their ground and have proper position. Personally, this is one case where what can technically be called a flop is a proper basketball move. Don't get me wrong, Vlad had his share of actual flops, but if you take out these plays during his one on one defense against Shaq he wouldn't sniff this list with some of the crap guys like CP3, James, Wade, Griffin, Bosh, Ginobli, etc, etc, etc pull.Comment

Re: King of Flop?
Actually I'm in my early 30's and I knew i would have to defend the MJ reference but some folks here were pointing out bron or Kobe "selling fouls" to the refs and equating that to flopping which to me is really just a ref paying homage to those players basketball gifts with "star treatment" and MJ really got away with murder in every game which is why he could shoot 9 of 25 and still end up with 35 points (which was routine in the 90s at the height of his prime years) so if bron or Kobe are floppers than so was he... As for anyone not understanding me listing vlade as the all time king than either listen to the refs, announcers, and players of that era and see how they described him cause the players of today have NOTHING on him lolComment

Re: King of Flop?
Also everyone who guarded shaq was a flipper cause he was just too much for anyone to handle so I completely understand your argument for vlade there but he tried to draw charging fouls against muggsy freaking bouges for crying out loud lolComment

Jordan would end up with 35 points because when his shot wasn't falling he'd attack the basket relentlessly, drawing fouls in the process.Comment

Re: King of Flop?
I have never said bron doesnt flop which is why I find so many of these responses funny, I'm not disagreeing with any of u but I am pointing out that at some point in EVERY GAME a star player uses his status to get calls and if u really think MJ was immune to that then u need to go back an watch tapeComment

Probably the perfect way to put it. We never saw him diving, falling after barely being touched, etc. Refs called it how they called it but he didn't go fishing for it.Comment

Re: King of Flop?
Flopping and getting ghost calls are totally separate things. You can get the phantom foul called because of your star status, like MJ did some times... but he wasn't flopping around like a rag doll at any hint of contact, or in their cases, anticipated contact.Twitter - WTF_OS
