    Duncan or KG?

There was a time when both these guys were year in/year out MVP candidates. They're old now, but both guys seem to be turning back the clocks lately. So if you had to pick one to have on your team right now for the rest of the playoffs, which old man do you got?

Normally I'd say Duncan, but KG has been playing so great lately, I'll probably have to go with KG. But it's close.

      KG Slightly.

Mainly because he's been carrying the Celtics with tough and clutch shots down the stretch and his defense.

As a Spurs diehard I'm totally biased, but never, under any circumstances will you ever hear me take KG over Duncan. No way.

Duncan has punked him throughout his career and if they meet in the Finals I hope to see it again.

Well you can't really hold a lack of clutch shots against Duncan because he really hasn't been in any close games :/

I can't really pick one over the other because they're such similar players.

Duncan -- he's more efficient per 36 minutes AND he as just recently started to decline. He only plays 25 - 30 minutes nowadays and averages around 15. Put that up to the 34-36 range and he'd easily a 20 point scorer again.

And I use scoring to seperate the two because everything else is pretty even and on defense their aren't a lot of talented big men that can challenge them every night.

I'll take KG for MY team.

I love Duncan and he's probably the best all-around PF of all time, but he has almost always had a good team around him and a good coaching staff.

I'll take KG for my team for his leadership abilities on defense, the fact that he talks and gets everyone in the right position. He's just as consistent as Timmy with that midrange J.

                    This.

However, in the Bulls case KG brings that toughness that they don't have at all.

                      Re: Duncan or KG?

Duncan can score in the low post and therefore bend the defense into unsound alignments. Smart teams play him soft and let him shoot his jumpers. He can also force the defense to foul him. On the boards, he uses his xxl arms to good advantage. He's always been a better helper than a straight up defender. An unselfish and on target passer except when he is on the move. In the clutch, he'll come up with a score, rebound, pass, block or whatever it takes to win.

Garnett was always a turnaround/fadeaway jump shooter. This means he rarely put enough pressure on a defense for them to foul him. A rhythm type shooter who likes to step into his shots. He gets rebounds because of his length and spring but doesn't have the strength to board in a crowd. He defends like a giant spider and gives his teammates great help, although he turns his head too much. A willing and accurate passer except on the move. In the clutch, Garnett has an unfortunate history of shooting bricks, forcing passes into traffic, and fumbling rebounds.

The pick here still is and always was Tim Duncan. Its between him and Dave DeBusschere for all time bragging rights at the power forward slot.

Good Point. I agree, it's a tough call.

It would be awesome if they would meet in the finals.

I think this is a case where rings hold some weight. All things being pretty close, I'd go with the guy that's been the top dog on a team that quietly regularly wins the division and flies through the playoffs more times than not.

It also feels like Garnett can show flashes at times while Duncan chooses to show flashes when necessary. Just a feeling obviously, but that can be a significant difference in the playoffs.
