    Why doesn't HE coach?

I was watching a video over the Bocats earlier and then all of a sudden this weird question came into my mind.. Why doesn't Michael Jordan coach the Bobcats him-self?

Can the owner of a team even be a coach?

He'd be an awful coach. Just because people can play doesn't mean they can coach, in fact chances are they'll suck. People who are good at something tend to have a hard time understanding that other people aren't as good, don't see what they see, and don't have the same work ethic.

I don't agree with him sucking as a coach, I think he'd push his players to the edge to get maximum potential, which wasn't done with D.J. Augustin and I don't think it's being done with Tyrus Thomas...

He'd probably be the worse coach in the history of the league. It's been said many times, actually.

Terrible idea, even if he did end up being decent his expectations would be too high. Fans would expect him to bring rings, he's already hurt his perfect career with a playing stint in Washington and by being a horrible manager in Charlotte, and for drafting Kwame Brown.. he doesn't need to take this on and fail again.

Plus, I doubt Jordan wants to do something that requires that much of a daily commitment.

No man. I'm the biggest Jordan fan there is, but Hotobu is EXACTLY right. I'm good at my job, and it's hard for me to understand why some of my co-workers aren't as good. It's not being arrogant; it's just when you have a God-given talent and you're really good at something, lots of people don't understand why everybody can't be as good because it's so easy to you. Jordan said when he came back to basketball in 1995, he had more patience with his teammates because baseball wasn't coming easy to him and his Birmingham Barons and Scottsdale Scorpions teammates had to be more patient with him.....

                Plus, don't you remember this?

Is this one of those questions, where the answer is influenced by the sport that the person played ?

see 01-03 Wizards when Doug Collins was supposedly "coaching" the team.

                        Re: Why doesn't HE coach?

Jordan coaching a team is about as bad of an idea as hiring Jerry Sandusky to coach a Pop Warner football team.

The better Question is Why doesn't he play? Because at 49 I still take him over the entire Bobcats roster

If he coached then his record would be 1-3. The 1 for being good at something (playing basketball) and the 3 for being bad (baseball/owning/coaching).

I gotta defend the man a little bit.

I wouldn't consider his stint in baseball a failure. Anybody that expected he'd be ARod was dreaming. Considering his age, time away from the game and prep time, the fact that he hit above .200 is amazing. He took it seriously and had a pretty decent progression. This is still PROFESSIONAL baseball we're talking about, even if it wasn't the majors.

He gets a lot of crap for his moves in management (I think that's what you meant, since he hasn't been an owner long enough to say he's a success or failure), and rightfully so. But we also knew his heart was never in Washington. When he wasn't playing (clearly not ready to transition properly to the job) he was in Chicago 90% of the time. There really shouldn't have been any expectation that he'd end up looking good coming out of that. He took it as a joke, which is unfortunate. But it doesn't necessarily project to how he'll handle his role going forward. There isn't much good to suggest he'll be better, but he did higher a basketball man to play GM in Charlotte. I'm willing to see how he does his job now.
