Steve Nash & Dirk are not going to take Dallas to the promised land which is why the Mavs should be looking at FAs/trades right now which is what I said before.

But no...they're sitting on their hands waiting for ONE player.

Tyson Chandler had more to do with their championship than the PG position.

Didn't Mihimni (sp?- Dallas center) get offered a contract by some other team already?

Dallas isn't addressing anything. Go after Dwight. Do something. But don't sit around and wait on Deron.

Mahinmi has interest from quite a few teams. Dwight doesn't want to come to Dallas, he wants to go to Brooklyn, if he doesn't go to Brooklyn he'll cry like a little child, again. The Mavs can get a good enough center, Camby is out there, Kaman is out there, there's a few options they have there.

Its pretty easy to type out, yeah the Mavs should be trying to trade Dirk and get pieces, but its a lot harder to actually do that.

Most people forget that Andrew Bynum is an unrestricted free agent next year just like Dwight. He says he wants to be in L.A. long term, and players don't usually walk away from the Lakers, in their prime, if max money is what they'll be getting, but who knows, he may leave money on the table to go somewhere else to be the undisputed number one option.

If Howard delivered his normal on the court performance/consistency here in L.A., he would be beloved by all comers, teammates, coaches, fans, press. This is L.A., it's Flake City baby, some goofball stuff is expected, All his flip flopping and other off the court shenanigans would be forgotten in a nano-second if he balls his *** off. I think a Kupchak, a Magic, and a old man Buss in his ear, would be able to talk Dwight into re-uping with the Lakers. Andrew seems to be immune to good advice.

So, IMO, the chance of losing Dwight as a UFA next year is only slightly greater than losing Andrew, if L.A. rolls the dice on a swap.

I know, and I agree with you 100% and don't worry, I love Dirk and I don't WANT him to go anywhere, but with the way its going its going to be tough to watch a player of his caliber struggle through his last few years trying to carry a team back to the Finals that probably just won't have the talent to get there. Or worse have his last years be like this past year where they barely even get into the playoffs or maybe not even make the playoffs. But I completely agree with you. And I wouldn't worry about it, Dirk's gonna retire a Mav, he's not going anywhere.

You know I KNOW you don't want Dirk to leave (and I figured you agreed with me but needed to rant anyway). I'm just saying considering Dallas drafted the man, he's basically spent his time in the US in Dallas as part of that organization, was a sleeper and became the MVP and the MVP of a championship run... going somewhere else to build a super team and win another ring before he hangs em up probably wouldn't mean as much to him as staying with his "family" and helping them however he can until his time is done. It's kind of like if Nash goes to Toronto but with a much stronger bond. As a fan you're looking at limping into the playoffs and him carrying a bad team on old legs. As Dirk, I'd imagine he's looking at being a part of the Mavericks organization and everything that means on and off the court.

I can kind of see the other perspective if you want them to blow it up so you can get back to the top sooner than you think they will if they just ride Dirk out for the next few years. But I'm guessing he'd rather retire tomorrow then play for the Heat for a year or two.

How excited he is to be back in Los Angeles:
"I was really excited when I got the call and heard the Clippers were excited about bringing me in and it kind of gave me a swift kick in the butt. I just want to get back to that form before the trade and get back to playing my best basketball man. I'm looking forward to having a great season."

"It was both. Like I was telling these guys before that I'm from New York but I was raised in LA. I've been here since I was 19-years-old. Spent a year in Miami but other than that I've been with the Clippers and with the Lakers so to be able to come back and to play for the Clippers after they went through a whole transition as far as bringing Blake (Griffin) here and bringing Chris (Paul) here and the beautiful practice facility that they have they're really serious about winning and hopefully I can help change and keep that tradition a winning one."

On playing with Blake Griffin and Chris Paul:
"I'm really excited. Any time you get to see, with Blake Griffin, Chris Paul the first thing I think about is the way they compete. I've learned how to compete from the best whether it's Phil (Jackson), Derek (Fisher) or of course Kobe, playing with those guys and now playing with these guys a little bit younger to be able to try to instill some of those values that I had as a Laker over here as a Clipper I'm looking forward to trying to do that."

If there are still bad feelings between him and the Lakers or him and the Mavericks:

No but we live under a microscope whether you're a professional athlete or doing reality of TV or whatever, we live under a microscope and it's funny because being raised in LA and living my adulthood in LA, it kind of got me prepared for that, prepared for making a jump like that and doing something like that. It was fun, I might do it again, I might not but we had a great time doing it and the people loved it."

The Clippers have agreed to send forward Reggie Evans to the Nets in a sign-and-trade deal, a source confirmed to SI.com.
According to the source, Evans' deal is for three years with an average annual salary of $1.6 million. While it remains to be seen exactly which teammates the 32-year-old Evans will play with, he is a brutish bargain for a team that continues to upgrade its roster while waiting on a verdict from free-agent point guard Deron Williams.
Williams visited with Brooklyn and Dallas officials Monday, and sources said the Nets were hopeful that he would announce his decision by the end of Tuesday. According to one source, Williams spent the morning in Brooklyn's training facility, but he didn't indicate which team he would ultimately sign with.
