Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
They could go one of two ways with the TPE:
1. Find a team like Minnesota is looking to dump the salary of Al Jefferson (Summer 2010).
2. Find a team like the Clippers who are looking to dump Baron Davis and get their 1st round pick for it. ( Cleveland/ Kyrie Irving).
The 4 team deal was better than the Nets because it was Brook Lopez and late 1st round picks. So it was late 1st round picks in either trade."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

FWIW, damn near everyone here killed the Nets for trading the 6th pick for Gerald Wallace and that TPE we got, we used on Reggie Evans and Mirza Teletovic. So I guess we'll see in a year if that was smart to use it on those two or not.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
So then we might as well use that standard for every trade then, right?
And using that standard, I guess it's too early to say that the Nets won the trade with the Jazz since we have to wait to see how Favors and Kanter pan out in the next few years, right?
Or that it's still too early to say that the Wizards won the trade with the Nuggets last year when they traded JaVale McGee and got Nene back, right?
They got back 2 prospects. Whether they're "nice" or not is TBD, especially if people can't say they got back garbage, right?I'll be sure to remember that when the Nets run off the next 3 NBA Championships while the Jazz are still fighting for the 8th spot.
How so? JaVale could right back to his Washington Wizard knucklehead self(especially since he got his money)and it is possible considering who we're talking about.
All it takes is one of these to happen again and everyone will be right back to saying "Same old JaVale"

I don't think that's the argument being made unless you're singling out one person on here.
Now is this better than any of the other deals that were offered? That certainly is debatable.
Again, if we're going to use the "Let's Wait 5 years then judge it(which people most likely won't)"then we might as well use that for every trade that's made and every FA signing that's happened, am I right?#RespectTheCultureComment

Not sure what you're arguing here.

At the time it was definitely pretty sketch trading away that pick for G Wallace. Deron in the air. Gerald could've been out. Worked out though right? I don't know the details of the TPE itself, but may have been a bad use for a TPE. My experience with it is to use patience and wait (what Mitch did last season) and see what can be done with it. But if Reggie Evans and Teletovic produce, then thats a W. And Reggie is a nice off the bench bruiser.
As an aside, I don't expect the Magic to focus using the TPE to acquire a guy whos contract is huge, but to have the flexibility to do so while acquiring the piece they want from a team in exchange for giving them salary relief. Or perhaps in a facilitation type of transaction.
People taking a trade SOLELY at face value is short sighted. We're better than that.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

The Heat and the Hawks could make a trade where MIA gets Josh Smith for a 1st rd pick and I guarantee everyone is not going to say, "Oh we have to wait to see what the Hawks do with that pick before we can say they lost that trade".
And in regards to this ORL/DEN/PHI/LA Trade, if we want to get technical then nobody really has "won" this trade since Duhwight, Bynum and Dre can all walk after this year and sign somewhere else.#RespectTheCultureComment

Bottom line, I just hope people are going to keep that same "Oh, let's not judge this Trade/FA Signing right away because we have to wait x amount of years before we can say if it's fair or not".
But I know that's not going to happen.#RespectTheCultureComment

But even at the time, it was still too early to say the Nets lost that trade because nobody knew who the 6th pick would be.
Because we live in a "What have you done for me NOW, not later" type of society(mainly in Sports) and it's not going to change no time soon.

Can't just say something like Miamis 13 first for Josh Smith needs the same treatment though. There are definitely odds in gambling.
And that's all we do. Project the odds we feel when we judge trades. I'm not saying Orlando got a super fantastic sweet package for Dwight, but in comparison to the other packages its not inconceivable this is the one that they honestly felt was their best.

There's a line to be drawn though, its not all black and white and you know that. You're right at the time of the NJ trade it was too early, but it looks like it may have worked out in Mid favor. It's a close one.

Trust me, I know it's not that simple because I'm usually the biggest optimist on here but at the sametime I also know not everyone is going to do the whole "Wait and see" approach when it comes to transactions. And at the sametime, I know that there are some moves that you don't necessarily need to wait a while before determining a winner/loser. The Wizards trading McGee is a prime example of that.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 08-16-2012, 03:00 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Id just drop it, there are two camps here and its obvious who resides in each one. Just charge it to the game and well have to revisit this in the future.#HellaBandz
