We don't have anyone else on the roster with the size to defend Howard. Wright, Brand and Bernard James are all too undersized to do anything against him.

Curry is probably better than Brendan Haywood though, so I'll take it.

i apologies for using nba2k13 as a reference point to talk real basketball, but its the only way i really can keep up the the finances of every team.

so going off of that Houston has the most cap space in the league at aprox 14-15mil b4 the Harden deal. and they have alot of 2yr team option on alot of their bigs (PF), so they have cap flexability there also.

so hypothetically speaking, even with the Harden deal they could still go after Dwight or Bynum this next offseason. or whoever else they deem worthy. plus they prolly will be in the lottery so thats a plus also. if they can land one of those bigs this offseason there right in the future mix.

long-term, i thought it was a good for both sides actually.

Only problem is, Eddy Curry is allergic to defense.

Are you happy with that deal for Houston?

Yep. I really don't think they lost much and received a player with all-star potential. Even if he doesn't turn out to be a superstar, if the Rockets should ever find themselves in the race for another superstar then they will have a really good complimentary player to go along with him.

He's worth the max simply because other teams were going to give him that. I love Lamb but I doubt he'll be as good as Harden and the Rockets aren't really in need for another lottery pick...unless it's a top 5 pick and I doubt the Toronto pick is going to be that.

A lot of people are sleeping on James Harden IMO. He has first option abilities. He's more suited as a second option with a big man type first option (ala Shaq & Kobe) at this point in his career.

Harden is overrated that is all.

I don't think anyone here was calling him the 3rd or even 4th best SG in the league.

Overrating him would be people saying he's the 3rd best shooting guard behind Wade and Kobe.

                        I personally think he's the 5th, maybe 6th best. IMO it's

                        1. Kobe
                        2. Wade
                        3. Ginobli
                        4. Joe Johnson
                        5A. James Harden
                        5B. Monte Ellis

I was implying overrated in the sense, people saying that losing him destroys the thought of them having a chance for a deep title run. He's a great player, and an excellent complimentary piece, but this dude's absence will not hurt the Thunder, I just don't see it. I know what he brings, but I don't see him doing big things in Houston on his own, he's just not that type of player, until he proves me wrong.

People need to stop sleeping on Lamb, perfect system for him too, and went to a contending organization... problems! A core for the future of Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, Maynor, Jones III (stop sleeping on him too) and Jeremy Lamb.... I you can build around that, wow. I didn't even mention Kendrick Perkins on lockup duty.

Would I rather have Harden as my guy? Yes. But, Martin is an adequate replacement offensively.

I expect a core of Durant, Westbrook, Martin and Ibaka to do just fine together. Martin could become an even more deadly weapon offensively then Harden. Lamb will take time to grow, but I like what their doing in OKC, I don't feel losing Harden was this monumental loss people are claiming it to be. You'd think Harden was significantly better then Martin.

Not that I think my Spurs have a chance of beating Oklahoma City either way, but losing Harden makes them far more vunerable. As great as Durant is and as freakishly athletic as Ibaka and Westbrook are, Harden was the player throwing the knockout blows against Dallas and San Antonio. He was the perfect complimentary player to Westbrook and Durant because he was the most natural creator and facilitator on offense.

I'm assuming that they'll go small with a backcourt of Maynor/Westbrook, but Harden brought that x-factor (dribble drive, spot up shooting, creating contact for fouls and flopping) that neither of those two provide. I really think that the Los Angeles Lakers (barring injury) are the favorites of west, now.
