Dammit for the millionth time we didn't have anything to show him. We couldn't ****ing afford it. The thing to show him was Dirk, being close to home and the fact that having him and Dirk would draw other free agents. And being competitive quicker than the Nets would.

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (Updates 1st PG)
I believe you are correct sir. It's to my understanding that they would have to work something out prior to the 11th in order to make it work.
I wouldn't let him go though. If he's unhappy, too bad. He's still gotta show up and play. You let him play for a bit and he just might become comfortable with the situation. It's not like you wouldn't be able to eventually trade him for something better at a later date if it's a huge problem.
Can't start just letting players go wherever they want because they're feelings are hurt.Comment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (Updates 1st PG)
Yeah, I'm just throwing that out there since NO need a center (which they would get in Robin) and need a backup PF (which they get in Markieff). They can even go small ball with that lineup and space the floor effectively since Markieff has range out to the 3 and Davis can hit that mid range jumper pretty solidly. That's a pretty dangerous lineup IMO.
But then PHX would be giving up thier starting PF though, so I could see why they don't do that trade...Comment

Isn't Austin Rivers A true PG? Why should he be mad?Comment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (Updates 1st PG)
NO has no need for another PF, already have Davis/Jason Smith/Gustavo AyonSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (Updates 1st PG)
Oh they definitely can but it remains to be seen if he will and if he does can he build a winner, Cuban spends big and it took him a while to finally get the right pieces in place, with the new luxury tax rules The Russian can spend but that is a hefty fine.
Yeah, wouldn't Wilcox still be a possibility with the LLE? Peaches wouldn't really have much of a spot in the rotation if Ray stays anyway, with Green splitting time with Pierce and having Bradley/Allen/Terry at the 2 that doesn't leave much.I know his role with the Celtics would be diminished but who do you think Doc is going to put out there when the game is on the line in the 4th? + a no trade clause and more $. I'd say he's returning to BOS. But I hate the fact that it's 6 Mil per year because BOS won't be able to re-sign Wilcox and "Peaches". or any other role players.
Yeah I don't see that either, if they get Dwight then absolutely those 3 can win, but just Deron and JJ isn't going to be going past the 2nd round.
Yup, if Dallas could have offered that I don't think there's a chance he stays in Brooklyn, I'd rather play with Dirk than JJ if the contracts are equal, but give me that extra 20 mil and I'll take JJ.
Yeah can't say I'm the least bit surprised by this, I hope you can get some assets when you deal him to help your team, he isn't the kind of personality you want to try and build a winner around, all about himself.Yeaahh from what i'm hearing from Clippers fans and Indiana/Illinois fans now this was to be expected.
It's just frustrating especially the Rivers part, I hate having to draft/get a guy to make someone happy when it's a rebuilding process. I'm sure he's pissed about the contract as well, but what did he expect at the time he played a grand total of 2 games or something for NO.Favorite Teams:

If he really wanted out he shouldn't have signed an offer sheet, that's an easy way to get yourself locked into a place you don't want to be considering your current team holds all the power by getting the right of first refusal.Favorite Teams:

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (Updates 1st PG)
Rivers is naturally more of a 2 guard given his body and talents, but Monty has expressed that he's basically just a guard for now he'll get time at PG&SG and would love to have them both on the floor to create offense. Problem is EG is saying he has no idea of their plan, so I just don't know lol. NO was going to pick the best talent available at #10, at least with Rivers he'll get time at PG cause they would have probably drafted Jeremy Lamb who's strictly a SG if notSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (Updates 1st PG)
Meh. I still like the Markieff/Robin deal because it gives them a Center to work with and a 4 who's range extends all the way to the 3 point line and lets you utilize a fast paced offense.Comment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (Updates 1st PG)
Fast paced and Monty Williams don't go together, he's very much about slowing the pace and getting to the FT line so they can set their Defense.
Either way I don't expect them to S&T with PHX, not sure if anything intrigues themSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (Updates 1st PG)
I don't mean to sound antagonistic but...there is nothing about Austin Rivers that says PG. Just like there is nothing about Russell Westbrook that says Point Guard.
Part of the reason why Austin probably looked good as a PG was that he had a tremendous size advantage over most of the PG's he faced so he had an easier time getting his shot off. Also, at the collegiate level, he was an above average athlete who had a tremendous change of pace dribble allowing him to blow by most of his defenders. In the NBA, about 75-80% of PG's are going to be right with him most of the time, so he no longer has the speed/quickness advanatage he usually had in college.
Secondly, playing PG and being a PG are two, entirely different things. The way you can tell Rivers doesn't have any PG instinct is that he refuses to get his big man involved in the pick and roll 90% of the time, which is also going to make him easy to defend at the next level.
Rivers is a SG.Comment
